This game has now taken on even more importance and significance since my Week 21 Overview a couple of days ago with the news today that Napoli have had their two point deduction reinstated.

Serie A Week 21 Games of the Week preview: Juventus vs. Udinese

Saturday 19th January 2013

Juventus vs. Udinese

This will actually move them up into second place in the table above Lazio with both teams now on the same points without even kicking a ball! More importantly they are both only three points and one win behind leaders Juventus and this weekend could see the Scudetto race blown well and truly wide open if Lazio, as expected, overcome second bottom Palermo.

I had already suggested that Juve would lose this one to make it three games without a win and with a Udinese victory at 9/1 with bet365 the Serie A betting odds are very attractive indeed and have become even more so now due to a couple of other factors which I will get to and that make it necessary to re-evaluate the title odds too. Napoli have come in to 9/2 and Lazio are an eminently backable 10/1 to win the whole thing, with Inter Milan the same price, all with William Hill. Juventus remain 1/3 favourites as their odds have not changed surprisingly!

So, that factor I was talking about, well there's four of them! Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal, Fabio Quagliarella and Claudio Marchisio all missed training today and are all serious doubts for the match Saturday with various injury problems. That is the whole of the Juve midfield including play maker and talisman, Pirlo who may not be fit to play and at best they will be carrying injuries if they do make the team. And they are playing one of THE FORM sides in Italy right now. So, the 1/3 a Juve win with bet365 is not where I want to be in this one on my football betting.

Udinese have scored 14 and conceded only four their last six outings, beating Inter and Fiorentina their last two match-ups, putting three past both of them. Juve have only picked up a point their last two outings and though they have won their previous four and are still of course top of the league, they did it with all those four mentioned in the team. With confidence in themselves at a season low this is not the game they want right now as Udinese try to power their way to a European spot in Serie A

Udine's last nine goals have all been score by either Antonio Di Natale, with six, or Luis Muriel with the other three and they are 7/4 and 10/3 respectively with William Hill to add to their personal tally this weekend.

And no, neither of them has any injury concerns! All bets are off for me with Juve's goalscorers -with so many possible top players out. But if set piece specialist Pirlo does make it he is 11/4 with William Hill to get his 5th of the campaign with all of them coming from direct free kicks unsurprisingly.

So come Sunday morning we could have three teams on equal points at the top of Serie A and Inter lying in wait just four points behind that if they overcome Roma in the Capital in our second featured game this weekend. Our upcoming sports picks could get very interesting very quick, depending on the outcome of this game.
