There are six midweek Major League Soccer fixtures on the betting menu Wednesday on the eve of the World Cup. Let's check out three of those contests and try to cash some winning tickets.

MLS: Matchday 16 Wednesday LookaheadAtlanta United FC vs. Columbus Crew SC (7:30 p.m. ET)

Josef Martínez (13 goals), Miguel Almirón (8 goals) and 1st-place Atlanta FC (9-3-3, 31 GF/19 GA) head to the Ohio capital to face Gyasi Zardes (10 goals) and the Crew (7-6-3, 23 GF/14 GA) who sit in 3rd place and are an impressive 5-3-1 at home.

Looking at the three previous meetings in this series (ATL 0-0 CLB, CLB 0-2 ATL, ATL 3-1 CLB), we see that The Five Stripes (WLWLDWD) are an unbeaten 2-1-0 (5 GF-1 GA) with the Crew (WWWDDDD) scoring only one time in 270+ minutes of play. Even with two straight "unders" in the series, it seems Columbus will want to get on the board first here and the pace may end up being quick with around 4 goals being scored (3o +125, Bovada).

Predicted final score: Crew 2, Atlanta United 2
Free MLS Pick: Over 3 +105 (Bovada)

Seattle Sounders FC vs. New York Red Bulls (8 p.m.)

Bradley Wright-Phillips (9 goals) and RBNY (WWWWDLD) host Will Bruin (3 goals), Nicolás Lodeiro (1 goal) and the Sounders (LDWLLLW). A look at the L5 meetings in this competitive interconference series (SEA 3-1 RBNY, RBNY 2-0 SEA, SEA 2-1 RBNY, RBNY 4-1 SEA, SEA 1-1 RBNY) shows the home team an unbeaten 4-1-0 and outscoring the visitors 12-4 in a coast-to-coast series that seems to physically tax the the team that has to do the 3-time zone traveling.

With this fixture being played in New Jersey and the rolling Red Bulls able to get goals from players other than the prolific Wright-Phillips -- Daniel Royer, Derrick Etienne, Alejandro Romero Gamarra and Florian Valot each have 3 goals -- expect the hosts to find a way to get the win and the three points in a match which sees the Red Bulls priced as -153 favorites (Bookmaker), the Sounders as high as +441 at one sportsbook (Pinnacle) and the draw (currently) priced at (a high of) +310, also at line-mover Pinnacle. Coming off a draw at Columbus on Saturday in Matchweek 15 and chasing Atlanta United in the standings, expect RBNY (4-1-1 at home) to find a way to get the butter here at home, as anemic Seattle is just 1-1-4 on the road.

Predicted final score: Red Bulls 3, Sounders 1
Free MLS Picks Red Bulls -153 (JustBet); Over 2¾ -119 (BetOnline)

DC United vs. Toronto FC (8 p.m.)

Defending MLS Cup champion Toronto FC (4-2-7, 19 GF/23 GA) welcome DC United (2-3-6, 15 GF/20 GA) for this midweek Eastern Conference fixture between 9th-place TFC (WLLWLDW) and 11th-place DCU (LWLLWDL). A look at the L5 series meetings (DCU 1-1 TOR, TOR 2-0 DCU, TOR 1-2 DCU, TOR 4-1 DCU, DCU 0-1 TOR) reveals that the host Reds (3-1-3 at home) are 3-1-1 against DC United with the L2 meetings "under" the total (3u -115, Bovada).

Even without Jozy Altidore (foot surgery), TFC is in a better mind-frame here having won 2-0 against the Union on Friday night while DCU will be coming off a 2-1 loss at Seattle on Saturday night and may be a bit road weary from having to travel from D.C. to Seattle (5,582 miles round trip) to Toronto (2,588 miles) in a game rescheduled because of TFC’s participation in CONCACAF Champions League play this spring.

Predicted final score: Toronto FC 2, DC United 1
Free MLS Pick: Toronto FC -192 (
