League One faces Premier League in Monday's FA Cup match. William Hill's Lee Phelps has looked at the betting to see if odds-on Manchester United are a good bet at Preston. Here are his free picks.

Games like this are sent to test us as gamblers. The mighty Manchester United away at a League One team is a gimme isn’t it? The match soccer odds have Louis van Gaal’s team at 1.5 (1/2), the draw is 15/4 and Preston North End are 8.0 (7/1).

United are third in the Premier League, which is further proof this is an easy night’s work for the Red Devils, while Simon Grayson’s team are fourth in League One.

Preston North End
Let’s have a look at these minnows shall we? They have lost twice at Deepdale all season and are a hard team to break down. Their main shortfall is not winning enough of their games at home, with six draws.

Paul Gallagher is the man to look at for home goals, with five in five in this season’s FA Cup. He is a tasty 6.0 (5/1) to score in the match.

I expect Grayson to set his side up to attack United in front of their own fans, but with a very solid base. As I have demonstrated not many teams manage to get the better of this back line and midfield, but they are well capable of getting goal, with only one blank in front of their own fans this season.

<var>Check out Bundesliga's Free Pick for Bayern Munich vs. Hamburg</var>

Manchester United
I was speaking to BBC pundit Robbie Savage this week and he told me van Gaal has a Plan B and C, but no Plan A, which I thought was a very good line. He constantly changes his tactics, formations and team, but to be fair they are third in the league so he must be doing something right.

Their home and away form are like chalk and cheese though. I’ve been backing over 1.5 goals in home games consistently and it pays out more often than not, but away they struggle to create chances let alone put them away.

At home they have scored 31 and conceded 10, away from Old Trafford it is scored 16 conceded 17 in all competitions, including a woeful 4-0 defeat at League One outfit MK Dons.

Now United will look to build on their 3-1 win against PNE’s big rivals Burnley in the league and they have done away with Yeovil and Cambridge in previous rounds, but they were hardly convincing against either side. Cambridge hit the post in the replay before the home team got their goals.

I don’t think you can trust United at the win price given they have only won four games all season and looked poor beating Burnley in midweek at Old Trafford.

Soccer picks
I want to be on Preston’s side in this match, but I’m not convinced they will actually win the game. First up, I think it will be a tight game with one goal in it, so I’m happy to see under 2.5 goals at 2.15 (23/20).

The other soccer pick I like at a bigger price than a Manchester United win is a Preston win, a draw and a one goal Preston defeat all for one handy price of 1.7 (7/10). That bet is otherwise known as Preston plus two goals.

Free Soccer Pick: Preston +2 1.7 (7/10)
