The second half of the 2016 CFL regular season gets underway this Wednesday night to kick off an extended schedule of games over the upcoming Labor Day Holiday weekend. All nine teams will be in action this week, but as usual, I have narrowed things down to my top two picks for my Week 11 two-team CFL parlay play.

I am coming into the second half hot after hitting last week’s parlay play. I started off with the right call in Winnipeg’s win against Montreal and I cashed in on the two-team play when the Saskatchewan at Edmonton game went OVER the closing 56.5-point line. Here is a look at my top two picks for this week’s CFL action based on the betting lines at BetOnline.

Ottawa Redblacks at Montreal Alouettes
Betting Preview

Ottawa has fallen on hard times with just one straight-up win in its last five games while going a costly 0-5 against the spread, but it did get quarterback Trevor Harris back into the lineup in last week’s 29-23 loss to British Columbia as a 2.5-point home favorite. Harris threw for 352 yards and a score in the losing cause while completing 23 of his 30 passing attempts. With no signs of visible rust in that performance, I am expecting even bigger and better things this week.

The Alouettes continue to struggle with any kind of consistency from one week to the next. The losses are starting pile up at 3-6 both SU and ATS and in those six losses this offense is averaging fewer than 15 points a game. Kevin Glenn has put up some big numbers for Montreal this season as the starting quarterback, but his inconsistent play has been a reflection of the entire team. He completed 76.3 percent of his 38 passing attempts in last week’s loss to Winnipeg, but he was also picked off four times including one that was returned for a score.

Betting Trends
The RedBlacks are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games and the total has stayed UNDER in five of those seven games.

The Alouettes are 1-7 ATS in their last eight games at home and the total has stayed UNDER in 10 of their last 14 home games.

These two have split the first two games this season with the road team winning both SU and ATS, but Ottawa still has a 5-1 edge both SU and ATS in the last six meetings.

Betting Prediction
With Harris back in the lineup for Ottawa, I see the pick line in this game as a gift since I would think that the Redblacks should be giving Montreal a few points on the road. Take the Redblacks SU in this East Division matchup on Thursday night.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Saskatchewan Roughriders
Betting Preview

Winnipeg is another team that should benefit from the play of its quarterback this Sunday night on the road. Ever since the Blue Bombers turned the starting duties over to Matt Nichols they have put together a SU four-game winning streak while closing as underdogs in all four contests. The entire team has been playing better and right now this could be the second-best team in the West at 5-4 on the year.

Everyone knows that Saskatchewan is the worst team in the CFL this season at 1-8 SU (3-6 ATS) and it could actually be getting worse in the midst of a five-game losing streak. The Roughriders did manage to score 25 points in last week’s eight-point loss to Edmonton as heavy 13.5-point road underdogs. This followed a four-game stretch of losses in which the offense combined to score a grand total of 35 points. Defensively, Saskatchewan has been torched for an average of 35.4 points a game.

Betting Trends
The Blue Bombers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a SU win and the total has gone OVER or ended as a PUSH in their last five games against a team with a losing record.

The Roughriders are 1-7 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a SU winning record and the total has gone OVER in six of its last eight West Division games.

Winnipeg won last season’s three-game series 2-1 both SU and ATS with the total going OVER in two of the three games. It has now gone OVER in four of the last five meetings.

Betting Prediction
Much like my first CFL parlay pick this week, I am banking heavily on a big day at quarterback by the road favorites. Nichols should be able to light up Saskatchewan all night long this Sunday to keep the winning streak alive both SU and ATS.

Pointspread: Winnipeg -5
Total Line: 52
