Neither of these sides seem to bother the bookmakers in terms of winning the Europa League trophy. Viktoria Plzen are 1000/1 longshots whilst Lyon are hardly dead certs at 17/1. That doesn't mean to say these are two teams that are not worth following or that there is no money to be won when they collide.
Enough with what they aren’t going to win…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?
In a game like this it's important to get the basics down early. Viktoria Plzen are 7/5 to win this game while Lyon are 11/5. The draw is about as likely as an away victory but is offered up at 9/4 by some sports books. The sports books also have Lyon at anything between 1/66 and 1/25, of qualifying while Viktoria Plzen run as high as 20/1 but as low as 9/1.
The reason why these soccer odds are what they are is because Olympique Lyon stuffed Viktoria Plzen 4-1 in the first leg last week. A repeat of that score to the away side is offered up at 100/1 but that score repeated in the home side's favour is that the pretty unlikely 80/1 as well.
This game screams draw to your Humble Handicapper as Lyon will just sit back and quite happily defend their 4-1 aggregate advantage and I can't see Viktoria Plzen breaking them down. You could always go for 0-0 game which is at best soccer odds of 9/1, but as the sports books have the game ending drawn on the 45 and on the 90 at 17/4 I do think we will see some goals in this game.
Over / Under
The bookies also have there being under 2.5 goals at 7/10 and over at 11/10. That would suggest that we will see some goals, but as the shortest correct score odds are on 1-1 at 6/1 and then we have 1-0 to either side (at 7/1 for Viktoria Plzen and 9/1 for Olympique Lyon) and the aforementioned 0-0, before we see a three goal correct score I will put my money where my mouth is and say back under 2.5 goals.
Draws are always tricky things to bet on and both of these sides have had just one draw in their last five games. Viktoria Plzen when they win they tend to win by the 2-1, a score they have managed twice in this run and something that is offered up at 9/1, but I don't think that's going to happen.
Lyon have scored eight goals in their last three games and I think if Viktoria Plzen go at an attack they will find themselves being taken advantage of at the back. Long story short Olympique Lyon will qualify without too much trouble.
Prediction: The game ends drawn 1-1 at best soccer odds of 6/1 with Paddy Power.
