It is a bad time to be a Spurs fan, but a very good time to listen to your Humble Handicapper as he is making money from Tottenham’s woes. The next failure he has for Spurs is this Thursday evening when they travel to Benfica in Europe.

Benfica vs Tottenham
The last time the sides met it ended 3-1 in Benfica's favour which pretty much sign, seals and delivers Tottenham's Europa league exit. Spurs will need to overturn a two-goal deficit if they are to reach the Europa League quarter-finals after going down 3-1 in the first leg of their last-16 tie at White Hart Lane. Tottenham’s only consolation is the fact that they have away advantage.

Benfica are 11/2 (second favourites) to win the Europa league this season and the sportsbooks have Spurs at 66/1. Benfica, who lost 2-1 to Chelsea in last season's final, are favourites to progress as they head into the second leg in Lisbon.

Spurs might take a little heart from the fact that they last faced Benfica away they came out on top, but still that was merely a club friendly and 1-0 scoreline would be no real use to them anyway.

Enough with the misery…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?
You don't need me to tell you that it's very obvious who the sports books like qualifier between these two sides. Benfica are at best soccer odds of 1/20 while some sports books run as low as 1/100, for them to make it through. The best soccer odds your Humble Handicapper can find  for Spurs are 14/1, but he doesn't recommend and throw any money down.

Benfica are on a 5 game winning run while Spurs are looking at three straight and consecutive defeats. What's more, doing a quick tally of the scores (in their last five games) we can see that Benfica have outscored their competition 10 goals to one, and their trip to White Hart Lane was the only time they have conceded a goal in their last five outings. What's more Spurs have only scored once in their last four games and that was in the match just mentioned.

Tottenham have lost three of their last four matches in the Premier League, scoring just once in the process.

The wheels are in real danger of coming off for Spurs, and I don’t see them getting anything right on Thursday night. I think misery loves company and we will see defeat for Spurs and it won't be a humbling score but it will remind them just how far they are off Champions League football.

Prediction: Benfica win 2-1 at best soccer odds of 14/1 with Bette Victor.
