Roma & Fiorentina are shaping up to be one of the major billings set to get underway in Europa League's last 16. With plenty angles for profit to be had on both sides of the coin.

Roma Survive Feyenoord in R32
The tie between Roma and Feyenoord in the R32 was rife with tension and controversy, from riots in the streets of Rome to raining litter on the field and all-out brawls in the stands at Stadion Fejenoord in Rotterdam, which forced the reverse leg to be suspended briefly until the fracas was under control. Somehow, with all the distractions afoot, Roma managed to keep it together and eke out the 3-2 victory on aggregate to advance into the R16.

Although Roma are still alive in the competition, they've climbed down from the pinnacle of the Europa League futures market as the top faves to third overall favourites at +800 soccer odds. A position that is sure to come under further fire when they host dangerous floaters Fiorentina in the first leg of their tie.

Fiorentina Dangerous Floaters
La Viola are after masterminding one of the first upsets of the knockout rounds, beating a highly favoured  Tottenham 3-1 on aggregate (1-1 at White Hart Lane and 2-0 at Florence). In so doing, Fiorentina strike a tantalising pose as the +1400 soccer pick to win the competition.

That they open this tie at Stadio Artemio Franchi is a bit of an advantage for La Viola towards advancing into the quarterfinals. Rather than boasting solid home form, they've played better on the road  both in domestic and European action. In fact, they are undefeated on the away in Europe winning all three of their group road trips and settling on a draw with Tottenham in the R32. That road form could prove deciding when they take Roma in the nation's capital in a week's time. Enough to consider Fiorentina as the value soccer pick to advance into the quarterfinals, a bet trading at +138 soccer odds right now.

Familiar Foes
Obviously, these two sides know each other well from Italy top flight football. Fiorentina appear to have a slight edge over Roma this season, holding an unbeaten record over the giallorossi on the last two occasions – a 1-1 draw in Florence (Serie A) and a 2-0 win in Coppa Italia action in Rome.  Prior to that Roma, however, have the edge with a four-game winning streak.

Roma's road form in Italy's top flight provides positive reading by the numbers with just two losses in 13 games (6-5-2). Backing Roma on the road to win is trading at +230 while a double chance bet which includes either the win or draw is trading at -175 at Bet365.

Fiorentina's home form is nothing to cheer about with a 4-6-2 overall record. Obviously, the win column is rather light. Fortunately, the losing column is even lighter with just two losses in 12 games. Fiorentina are trading at +140 to win the first leg. A combined bet covering the win or draw is trading at -294.

Soccer Betting Verdict
Fiorentina were riding a 13-game unbeaten streak before it was snapped at the weekend in a 4-0 loss to Lazio. As bad as the loss was, it shouldn't take the shine off their soccer odds to get their last 16 tie off the mark on Thursday. At home, they remain undefeated in their last seven games (4-3-0), a run of form they have every opportunity to extend against a Roma side that can at times be unadventurous on its travels. For our money, therefore, either a Fiorentina win at +140 or backing the draw at +225 is a good move for your soccer picks. Keep in mind, you can hedge those bets in double chance betting as well. In any event,  either the win or draw presents a positive result for La Viola, and given their strong road form, they'll fancy their chances going into the reverse leg in the nation's capital.

Top Soccer Free Picks: Back Fiorentina +140 to win or back the safer option of the draw at +225
