Hull City will be looking to make it 3 straight wins in a row this Saturday when they take on Stoke City, but odds makers aren't putting much stock into it. Can the Tigers defy the soccer odds?

Stoke City Bounce Back
Stoke City snapped a two-game, 4-1 losing streak in all competitions last Saturday with a 2-1 win over beleaguered Aston Villa, all while coming through as the marginal +170 underdogs for soccer bettors. It was a rather fortuitous victory – almost entirely down to a silly penalty by Villa captain Ron Vlaar that led to Moses' winning goal – but the Potters aren't going to apologise for it. How three points are come by doesn't matter as much as the points do.

By the end of EPL match day 26, the Potters were firmly in tenth place in the table, a point behind Swansea and four points ahead of Newcastle United. A top half of the table finish is achievable if the Potters continue to punch above their perceived weight class.  They are 10-6-10 on the season with a modest 5-2-5 record at home and a 5-4-5 record on the road.

Towards that end, the Potters will look to collect all three points at the expense of the Tigers. Stand-in captain Glenn Whelan is confident his side can build on last week's result at Villa Park and clinch the victory. So it would seem are Premier League odds makers too as they are trading Stoke City at -105 soccer odds on the betting floor.

Tigers Could Prove Tricky Test
The Tigers roar into the Potteries on the back of a two-game winning streak, their best run of form this season and first back-to-back winning streak in 17 months. With this abrupt upturn in form, some soccer betting enthusiasts are of the opinion the Tigers could prove a trickier test than the odds makers are suggesting by the +350 price tag currently on tap for a win by them.

Consider Hull City are wallowing near the foot of the table in 15th place, with a 6-8-12 record and 26 points, and just four points clear of 18th placed Burnley and the relegation bog. The quality of their winning streak is the upshot of home advantage on both occasions and heaping more misery on Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers, two popular soccer picks in the relegation betting markets. And, perhaps the most relevant statistic, they boast just TWO road wins this season. Hardly what one would figure worth a gloat-a-thon at the expense of Sunderland and...wait for it...Queens Park Rangers.

Put into such context, it's hard to imagine how the Tigers could prove a tricky test for the Potters on Saturday. One thing, though, that might (loosely) lend itself to that notion is the fact that the Tigers have lost to the Potters only three times in seven meetings dating back to 2008. They won just once when they beat the Potters 2-1 at KC Stadium in 2009. The remaining three fixtures settled on draws, including a 1-1 draw at Hull earlier this season.

Then again, it doesn't have the same ring to it when put so: the Potters have lost only once to the Tigers and not since 2009. They ride a five-game undefeated streak, which includes a two-game winning streak at Britannia Stadium.

Still think the Tigers might prove a trickier test than the odds makers would suggest?

Soccer Betting Verdict:
Steve Bruce and his Tigers may well feel confident about their chances at Britannia Stadium on Saturday, but the reality is they are a wildly optimistic soccer pick at +350 to win outright for a reason. Not only have they not beaten the Potters since 2009, but they have never beaten them at Britannia Stadium in Premier League action. If that isn't dissuading enough, what is.

To be fair, Hull City could force the draw, which is available at +250 soccer odds at Bet365. However, when speculating about the impact confidence can have on a team, the Potters' undefeated record against the Tigers can't be ignored. It's the sort of run of form and confidence against an opponent that can quickly reduce the two-game winning streak the Tigers are enjoying into a pile of smoking rubble.
