This fixture has a real end of season feel to it, with Burnley battling to avoid being bottom and Villa looking ahead to the FA Cup final, so William Hill's Lee Phelps has an eye on the odds for his free betting pick.

One team is warming up for the FA Cup final, whilst the other is contemplating life in the Championship. Burnley can still make sure they finish off the bottom of the table and Villa will be mad keen to make up for Saturday’s horror show against Southampton.

Aston Villa
The Villans’ home form has been a big plus for Tim Sherwood in his fledgling career at the Midlands’ club; with just one defeat at Villa Park and he will be dead set on hitting the cup final with a better result than he had to endure at St Marys.

Of course Christian Benteke has been a key part of the good home form with 13 in 13 for club and country and seven of his domestic haul have been at home.

Sherwood hasn’t been too critical of his team, but wants an instant improvement: “We are determined to bounce back now next weekend. I have told them, to put things in perspective that they have done very well for me. But against Southampton it wasn't good enough. We have to put that right. We owe it to everyone to do that.'

'It was a disastrous 45 minutes of football and we have to take it on the chin and move on. I've got no problem with the character of this bunch. We've done brilliantly over the last couple of months. We've been fantastic.”

“It's wrong for me to be too harsh on them. But it won't be forgotten. There are things there we need to learn from.”

The way he talks and what he says only makes me think he will get a response and with Cup final places up for grabs, I’m expecting goals.

Burnley
Goals have been what have cost the Clarets, with just 13 scored in 18 away matches, so think about this when looking at the soccer odds. Their first half performances have also been a major issue, scoring just six first half goals and conceding 21 of their 32 in the opening 45 minutes.

The point they picked up at home to Stoke meant the home fans didn’t have to trudge home with a loss and relegation ringing in their ears and boss Sean Dyche was happy enough: “I am really proud of the players because it was a big knock last week,” he said.

“It’s a lot to take in, but to come out of that, make sense of it and deliver that performance I am very pleased with my players for that.

“The tactical side of the game has been pretty solid throughout the season, no matter what shape we have come across during the season or what the opposition have offered we have taken every game on, home and away.

Soccer picks
There are three soccer picks I like here and the prices come in ascending order. First the straight forward Villa win at 2.05 (21/20), next is a Benteke goal at 2.2 (11/10) and the final one based on Burnley’s poor first half away displays and Villa’s need to bounce back, is the Villa / Villa half time / full time bet at 3.2 (11/5)

Free soccer pick: Aston Villa HT/FT 3.2 (11/5)
