Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Manchester United head to Anfield on Sunday to face Liverpool and new Manager Jürgen Klopp and the Reds in a huge game for both historic clubs and the marquee game of Matchday 22.

On Matchday 21, both of these sides played to 3-3 Draws and with 4 straight Overs in this series in games which saw at least 3 goals in each, is backing the Over the logical idea here at Merseyside? Let’s take a look at all 10 English Premier League Matchday 22 matches, make some logical soccer picks from our findings and Trends and put together a couple of modest Parlays (Accumulators) for your consideration.

Introduction: Nothing Like a 10-Club Race For Fans, Bettors and Oddsmakers?
English Premier League football Matchday 21 was a quirky one, with three Home teams and three Road teams winning and four games drawn. Six of the 10 matches had 4 goals or more scored in them and in the four of the 10 where there weren’t 4+ goals there was a Clean Sheet. And seven, count’ em, 7 teams went Over the posted Totals by themselves as a grand total of 34 goals were scored (3.4 gpg). And if you bet all the Favorites on Matchday 21? No money for Kleenex to cry in evenk, bruh, as only two chalks, Southampton and Stoke City, both priced around +100, came in as winners. Like most professional sports, World Football (Soccer) can be as unpredictable as anything, as upstart newly promoted side and 2nd place (only by GD) Leicester City (12-7-2) reminds us of that every week.

And Bookmakers and Bettors have finally taken note, betting the Foxes down all the way to 12/1 (bet365) at most betting sites now after still being at 2000/1 (Coral) on Oct. 8 to win the Premier League crown. With two of the top scorers in the league in Jamie Vardy (15 goals) and Riyad Mahrez (13 goals) and just 2 Losses, Leicester City has proved it’s no fluke and will be playing top flight English football again next year but February, March, April and May will separate the wheat from the chaff in this league in a wide open season where it still honestly seems about seven clubs could make a run at the championship. And Wednesday’s 1-0 win for Leicester City against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane proved we should all forget about The Past very quickly and focus on The Now and The Future my friend as things that have never happened seem to be happening all of the time. Look at Donald Trump and Drones. And when Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs all fail to win on a given matchday and nobody gives it any bother, then you know we are all closer to being in that Future than we thought. Or, The Big Meteor is close. One of the two. Welcome to the New Age EPL, where Foxes and Hammers are hanging with the Big Boys, for the time being at least. Let’s take a quick, thumbnail sketch look at the coming Week 22 EPL fixtures and see if there are any angles in any of these 10 matches.

Saturday, January 16, 2016
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Sunderland [12:45] (NBCSN, NBC Sports Live Extra (US), BT Sport 1, BT Sport Ultra HD (UK); 7:45 a.m. EST/4:45 a.m. PST): White Hart Lane in London is the site of the Week 21 English Premier League lidlifter between host and 4th-place Tottenham Hotspur (9-9-3, 34 GF-17 GA) and visitors and 18th-place Sunderland (5-3-13, 26 GF-41 GA). Spurs (20/1 to win EPL, Paddy Power) will look to striker Harry Kane (11 goals), Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Dele Alli (5 goals) for goals against the Black Cats here on Saturday as Sunderland has allowed the most goals (41) in the EPL, making the Over worth a shot, especially against a mad Tottenham side stifled by Leicester City, 1-0 here on Wednesday. The Black Cats used a Jermain Defoe Hat-Trick to silence Swansea City in Wales, 4-2, but still sit in 18th place with 18 points barely in the Relegation Zone.

Soccer Pick: Over 2½ -140 (Marathon), Spurs -275 (PaddyPower) (only as Parlay-Accumulator Element)

Chelsea vs. Everton [15:00] (USA Network, NBC Sports Live Extra (US); Setanta Sports 1 (UK); SKY México (CRI, DR); 10 a.m. EST/7 a.m. PST): Defending English Premier League champions and currently 14th-place Chelsea (6-6-9, 28 GF-31 GA) play host to 11th-place Everton (6-10-5, 36 GF-29 GA) at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in this English Premier League Matchday 22 fixture from West London between two clubs who are probably shocked to be outside of the top 10 places in the league table on January 16th. Everton (3-6-1 on Road, 13 GF-9 GA) and Manager Roberto Martínez have strangely been much better on the Road this EPL season, with 15 points earned in 10 matches with 6 Draws after Wednesday’s 0-0 tie at Manchester City and just one Loss (Arsenal) in that span.

And since that setback to the Gunners in North London, Romelu Lukaku (15 goals, +200 Anytime Goalscorer, Sky Bet) and the Toffees have gone an impressive 7-6-2 in all competitions. On Wednesday, Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion played to a 2-2 Draw here at Stamford Bridge as Blues Defenders César Azpilicueta and Kenedy scored with Pedro starting in place of the injured Eden Hazard (Hip) in the AMF for the Blues and Guus Hiddink (4-3-4 at Home, 17 GF-16 GA). Hosts Chelsea (150/1 to win EPL, Stan James) will look to Diego Costa, Oscar and Willian for scoring here while visitors Everton (750/1 to win English Premier League, Sky Bet) will rely on former Blues striker Lukaku and Koné for tallies. The Blues are 5-5-0 in their L10 meetings against the Toffees here at SW6.

Soccer Pick: Both Teams To Score ‘Yes’ -125 (Betfred)

Bournemouth vs. Norwich City [15:00] (NBC Sports Live Extra, Premier League Extra Time (US); 10 a.m. EST/7 a.m. PST): Goldsands Stadium at Dean’s Court (Vitality Stadium) in Bournemouth, Dorset is the site of this match between host and 16th-place AFC Bournemouth and 15th-place Norwich City in a game that’s probably more about survival with both clubs hovering so close to the Relegation Zone. Norwich City won 3-1 in the first-ever EPL meeting between the Cherries and Canaries back in August. Nathan Redmond (4 goals) is the leading scorer for Norwich City (+275 to be Relegated, bet365), who lost 3-1 to Stoke City on Matchday 21, while Callum Wilson (5 goals) is the leading scorer for Bournemouth (+500 to be relegated, bet365). On Tuesday, the Cherries fell to West Ham, 3-1, here at Home and with Norwich City 1-5 the L6 on the Road—the Lone Win came at Old Trafford against Manchester United—backing Bournemouth seems wise here.

Soccer Pick: Bournemouth -109 (Matchbook)

Southampton vs. West Bromwich Albion [15:00] (NBC Sports Live Extra, Premier League Extra Time (US); 10 a.m. EST/7 a.m. PST): St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton, Hampshire is the site of this match between host and 12th-place Southampton (7-6-8, 28 GF-24 GA) and 13th-place West Bromwich Albion (7-6-8, 22 GF-27 GA), two clubs with identical Records heading into this date. The Saints (5-2-4 at Home, 19 GF-13 GA) seem like the logical play here although the Baggies (14/1 to be Relegated, bet365) did play a nice game in West London against Chelsea on Wednesday, earning a 2-2 Draw against the defending Premier League champions. Southampton (66/1 to be Relegated, bet365) will look to Italian Graziano Pellè (6 goals) and Shane Long (5 goals) for scoring here while GK Fraser Forster may get the call again for the Saints after registering a Clean Sheet in a 1-0 win Wednesday over Watford in his first start although he only had to make one save in the match. A Draw is a possibility.

Manchester City vs. Crystal Palace [15:00] (NBCSN, NBC Sports Live Extra, NBC UNIVERSO, NBC Deportes en Vivo Extra (US); 10 a.m. EST/7 a.m. PST): Third-place Manchester City (12-4-5, 39 GF-21 GA) welcome 8th-place Crystal Palace (9-4-8, 23 GF-20 GA) to the Etihad Stadium in Manchester on Saturday in big game for the Citizens who drew with Everton here, 0-0 on Wednesday in a game in which the hosts outplayed the Toffees, especially in the 2nd Half. On Tuesday, Crystal Palace (1000/1 to win EPL, Ladbrokes) were shut out at Aston Villa, 1-0 and the Eagles are 3-4-7 (11 GF-22 GA) lifetime here at the Etihad against Manchester City (+130 to win EPL, Paddy Power) and striker Sergio Agüero (8 goals) and the Sky Blues are unbeaten in their L6 against Palace here, outscoring the Eagles 11-4 in the process and registering Clean Sheets the L2 meetings in Sky Blue Mancunia (2-0, 1-0). So, expect Manager Manuel Pellegrini, Agüero, Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Yaya Touré to lead City to the victory and the 3 points as sooner or later the Oddsmakers favorites to win the league will wake up and realize that they’re in a title race.

Soccer Picks: Manchester City -1 -163 (BetVictor), Manchester City -250 (BetVictor) (only as Parlay/Accumulator)

Newcastle United vs. West Ham United [15:00] (NBC Sports Live Extra, Premier League Extra Time (US), TSN4 (CAN); 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT): Nineteenth-place Newcastle United (4-6-11, 22 GF-38 GA) welcomes upstart West Ham United (9-8-4, 33 GF-24 GA) to the Geordie Shore and St. James’ Park in Newcastle-upon-Tyne for this game important to both clubs for very different reasons. The Hammers (3000/1, Ladbrokes) head into this match sitting in 5th place and in position for a Europa League berth while Toon has 18 points and is a point away from getting out of the dreaded Relegation Zone (-187 to be Relegated, bet365). When these two met earlier this season at Upton Park in East London, West Ham shut out Newcastle United, 2-0 as Dimitri Payet (6 goals) had a brace for the hosts. The Hammers pitted the Cherries, 3-1 on Wednesday while the Magpies fought for a late 3-3 Draw with Manchester United at Home on the Geordie Shore. This seems like one of the best bets on the board this weekend with the Hammers having one the 2nd-hottest Form in the league (3-3-0 L6), being solid on the Road (5-4-2, 17 GF-12 GA) and just 8 points off the EPL lead while Newcastle (2-5-4 at Home, 17 GF-17 GA) has the 19th-ranked EPL Form (1-2-3 L6) and has scored an anemic 22 goals in 21 matches. Watch Payet.

Soccer Pick: West Ham United +200 (bet365)

Aston Villa vs. Leicester City [17:30] (NBC, NBC Sports Live Extra (US), Sky Sports 1/HD UK, SKY GO Extra, NOW TV UK (UK); 12:30 p.m. EST/9:30 a.m. PST): EPL leading scorer Jamie Vardy (15 goals), Riyad Mahrez (13 goals) and 2nd-place Leicester City (12-7-2, 38 GF-25 GA) head to Villa Park in Birmingham on Saturday to face last-place and surely going, going gone from the Premier League, Aston Villa (2-5-14, 17 GF-37 GA). The Villains (-1600 to be Relegated, bet365) have scored an EPL-low 17 goals in 21 games while the recently promoted Foxes have just 2 Losses as we’re midway through January. That’s wassup. Leicester City (12/1 to win EPL, bet365) not only has those two dynamic scorers, but also plays great Defense, as was on display on Wednesday in the Foxes 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in London as Dane GK Kasper Schmeichel notched the Clean Sheet. The Foxes often play low-scoring games, but with Vardy and Mahrez clicking and Villa having allowed 37 goals, it seems best to stay away from the Total here and take a chance on the small and talented Road favorites who are in the thick of the title hunt.

Sunday, January 17, 2016
Liverpool vs. Manchester United [14:05] (NBCSN, NBC Sports [Live Extra, Telemundo, NBC Deportes en Vivo Extra (US) Sky Sports 1/HD, SKY GO Extra, Sky Go UK, NOW TV UK (UK); 9:05 a.m. EST/6:05 a.m. PST): Definitely the marquee game of Matchday 22 sees 6th-place Manchester United (9-7-5, 27 GF-28 GA) heading to Anfield to face 9th-place Liverpool (8-7-6, 25 GF-27 GA) and new Manager Jürgen Klopp on Sunday. On Matchday 21, both of these historic clubs played to 3-3 Draws—Liverpool against Arsenal here on Merseyside and United against Newcastle United at the Geordie Shore. This series has some interesting Trends worth noting, with 13 of the L16 meetings (81.3%) seeing 3 or more goals scored with the L4 straight all having 3 or more (4, 3, 3, 3). Also, the Red Devils have W3 straight in this series, outscoring the Reds, 8-2 in the process and United won this fixture here at Anfield last season, 2-1. With the soccer odds so high on the underdogs and the Red Devils and Manager Louis van Gaal (-187 Next Manager to Leave Post, Ladbrokes), GK David De Gea, Wayne Rooney (5 goals) and Juan Mata (4 goals) very capable of the Win here, making equal decent-sized bets on the Over and the Red Devils on the Draw No Bet line seems the wisest approach.

Soccer Picks: Over 2½ +128, Manchester United Draw No Bet +152 (Matchbook)

Stoke City vs. Arsenal [16:15] (NBCSN, NBC Sports Live Extra, NBC Deportes en Vivo Extra (US) Sky Sports 1/HD, SKY GO Extra, NOW TV UK (UK); 11:15 a.m. EST/8:15 a.m. PT): Stoke-on-Trent and historic Britannia Stadium is the site of this Sunday fixture between host and surprise 7th-place Stoke City (9-5-7, 24 GF-22 GA) and league-leaders Arsenal (13-4-4, 37 GF-21 GA) who are only on top over of the EPL over 2nd-place Leicester City by GD (+3). Back-to-back FA Cup winners Arsenal and GK Petr Cech may have their hands full here against the Potters although Alexis Sánchez, Olivier Giroud, Mesut Özil and Theo Walcott have the best Form in the Premier League (3-3-0, WWLWWD) and the Gunners have been playing pretty consistent football for Manager Arsene Wenger. When these two met earlier this season at the Emirates Stadium in North London, Arsenal defeated Stoke City, 2-0 (Sept. 21) as Giroud and Walcott scored for the hosts and Cech registered a Clean Sheet for the victors.

The upstart Potters currently rank 5th in the Form Table (3-1-2 L6) and are 4-0-2 their L6 here at Home at Britannia. With the Foxes breathing down their necks, the Gunners really need the Win and the 3 points here at Stoke but will be hard-pressed to get it against this perennially gritty bunch, therefore, better to be safe than sorry and back the Gunners in the Draw No Bet market and maybe use them as a parlay (accumulator) leg with other high-priced chalks above like possibly Tottenham Hotspur and/or Manchester City.

Soccer Picks: Arsenal Draw No Bet -250 (bet365) (only as Parlay-Accumulator Element)

Monday, January 18, 2016
Swansea City vs. Watford FC [20:00] (NBCSN, NBC Sports Live Extra (US); Sky Sports 1/HD UK, Sky Go UK, SKY GO Extra (UK); 12:30 p.m. ET/9:30 a.m. PT): Liberty Stadium in Swansea, Wales is the site of this EPL Matchday 22 curtain call between host and fading 17th-place Swansea City (4-7-10, 19 GF-20 GA) and visitors and recently promoted side Watford (8-5-8, 25 GF-24 GA), now sitting proudly in 10th place with 29 points. With the Swans (+187 to be relegated, Sky Bet) fighting for their lives, this is a tough handicap and could be a low-scoring affair although after Matchdays 21’s 34-goal barrage (Over 6-4), betting an Under now is a downright scary proposition.

On Wednesday, 10-man Swansea City lost to lowly Sunderland, 4-2 here in Wales so this team may either be desperate or scared, or maybe a little of both right about now. But with players like Andre Ayew, Ki Sung-yueng, Nathan Dyer, Gylfi Sigurðsson, striker Bafetimbi Gomis and GK Lukasz Fabianski, the Swans should be able to fight (and score) their way out of this mess although a Loss here to the Hornets would surely sting. In matchday 21 play, Watford was blanked 2-0 to Southampton but the Hornets (50/1 to be Relegated, Sportingbet) have surely stuck themselves back in in the EPL for another season, sitting comfortably in their nest 11 points above the Relegation Zone. Watford is 3-0 lifetime versus Swansea City (20th in Form table, 1-2-3 L6) in EPL play including a 1-0 win at Vicarage Road earlier this season for Watford’s first victory of the season as Odion Ighalo scored the only goal of the match against the 10-man Swans at The Vic.

EPL MATCHDAY 22 PICKS: Tottenham Hotspur-Sunderland Over 2½ -140 (Marathon), Chelsea-Everton Both Teams To Score ‘Yes’ -125 (Betfred), Bournemouth -109 (Matchbook), Manchester City -1 -163 (BetVictor), West Ham United +200 (bet365), Leicester City +125 (BetVictor), Manchester United Draw No Bet +152 (Matchbook), Liverpool-Manchester United Over 2½ +128 (Matchbook)
