EPL Match Day 20 Recap
In the last lap around the league, Arsenal advanced their cause at the top of the league with a 1-0 win over Newcastle United, marking their second straight win since a succumbing to a disappointing 4-0 defeat to Southampton. Former league-leading Leicester City settled on a second straight scoreless draw – first to Man City then to AFC Bournemouth – and slipped into second place behind Arsenal, two points adrift. Indeed, those points they leaked couldn’t have been more costly. Meanwhile, Man City bounced back from the scoreless draw to Leicester City in week 19 with a 2-1 win over Watford on the road. Rounding out the Top 4, Tottenham Hotspurs extended their unbeaten form to four straight games with a 1-1 draw to Everton.

Elsewhere, Chelsea extended their unbeaten form to four straight with a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace and Manchester United bounced into winning form with a 2-1 win over Swansea City. Finally, West Ham United continued to punch above their weight class with a 2-0 win over Liverpool.

Newcastle United vs. Manchester United
Manchester United look to extend their winning form to three in a row when they take on Newcastle United in round 21 of the Premier League. At the weekend, the Red Devils beat Sheffield United 1-0 in FA Cup action, improving to three games undefeated (2-1-0) in all competitions, since a 2-0 loss to Stoke City. Newcastle United, meanwhile, continue to struggle on form losing a fourth straight fixture in all competitions this weekend behind a 1-0 loss to Watford in FA Cup. Based on current overall form, it’s no wonder the Magpies are at the disadvantage at home to the Red Devils. Nevertheless, they’re not without hope in this game as Man United has struggled to score in recent weeks, particularly on the road where they are riding a three-game losing streak. In fact, considering some of the struggles Man United are experiencing they do seem over priced in match winning markets. Best soccer pick here therefore is to back a low-scoring affair.

Liverpool vs. Arsenal
Arsenal look to advance their lead at the top of the table when they take on a dangerous Liverpool side in round 21 of Premier League betting. Liverpool have shown their mettle this season by taking apart Man City, amongst others. Indeed, if Arsenal are to underscore their title credentials a win over Liverpool will go some way towards their credibility.

Arsenal defeated hapless Sunderland 3-1 in FA Cup at home to improve to three straight wins in all competitions, seven in their last eight games. The only misstep was a 4-0 drubbing at Southampton on Boxing Day. Impressively, they’ve scored 16 goals and conceded just 6 over the last eight games. Liverpool are coming off a 2-2 draw to Exeter City in FA Cup which extends their positive run of form to 3-1-1 in their last five games. It’s worth noting the Reds have had a brutal schedule of late with four consecutive road games spanning several competitions. They’ll be glad to be at Anfield, where they are undefeated in their last four games (3-1-0) across all competitions.

This is going to be one of the must-spot games in England’s top-flight. It’s also very possible for either side to come away winners, making the outright winning markets a bit of a tough call. As such, we’re looking at the totals here too with a mind to place a bet on the OVER 2.5 goals.

Tottenham vs. Leicester City
Tottenham and Leicester City, somewhat conveniently, collided in FA Cup this weekend and settled on a 2-2 draw. A handy preview of what’s to come on Wednesday? Leicester City are second in the table, just two points behind Arsenal. Yet, they are continuously disrespected on the soccer odds board. Week to week they defy the soccer odds, even punching above their weight class against perceived heavyweights, yet odds maker continue to put them at the disadvantage. Fact is, the Foxes boast just one loss on the road this season, which is a road mark that’s quite impressive, and haven’t underperformed in any way to warrant such disadvantage. Jamie Vardy is injured though and that takes the shine off Leicester City to some extent. That said they have to be encouraged by the 2-2 draw against Tottenham in FA Cup and had it not been for a late game penalty awarded to the Spurs, they might have won the game.
