Crystal Palace vs. Southampton FC
Southampton have hit a horrible patch of form in recent weeks and Crystal Palace could capitalise by securing a much-needed win in this clash. Palace are sitting pretty in sixth place in the Premiership, a full six places above Southampton, which sounds like a huge gap. But in reality, just two points separate the teams – the Premiership is incredibly tight this year – and they are pretty evenly matched. It will be a tight contest, showcasing the talents of plenty of exciting attacking players and pitting two highly-rated managers against one another.

Crystal Palace
Alan Pardew surprised many in the footballing community when he swapped northern powerhouse Newcastle for the much smaller Crystal Palace last season. At the time, his Newcastle side were 10th and Palace were in the relegation zone. Everyone saw what a good manager he was when he took Crystal Palace up to a final position of 10th and Newcastle dropped to 15th and only just escaped the drop. This season Palace are flying high (and Newcastle are once again in the relegation zone), leading to Pardew being tipped as the next England manager.

Ronald Koeman has performed similar miracles at Southampton, guiding them to seventh last season despite losing half his first team to bigger rivals in the summer. This season they look set to languish in mid-table mediocrity due to their inconsistency, while Palace have kicked on again and look to be the better side. Yohan Cabaye was a fantastic signing and Pardew has built a very good team around him. They have so much pace, width and dynamism going forwards, with the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Yannick Bolasie, Dwight Gayle and Jason Puncheon a constant menace, while Scott Dann leads a strong defence.

Southampton FC
Southampton were hitting form at the start of November, but it has since gone very wrong for them. They lost to Stoke and Man City and were then annihilated 6-1 by Liverpool in the League Cup. That defeat seems to have knocked their confidence and they could only limp to a 1-1 draw at home to bottom club Aston Villa in their last game. Palace are in much better form. A loss to Sunderland was the only real blip of late as they battled to a hard-earned draw with Everton last time out, thrashed Pardew’s old club Newcastle 5-1, beat Liverpool 2-1 and drew with high-flying Man Utd.

Odds Overview
Crystal Palace are +150 to win this match, which is a good price. They are the home team, they are in better form and they should just about enough to secure a narrow victory here. The bookmakers are predicting a tight game and there is no clear favorite. Southampton are +200 and you can get +225 on the draw.

Southampton have 1.4 goals per game this season and Crystal Palace have 1.33 so you would not anticipate a particularly high scoring game. The -400 available on under 3.5 goals is not particularly high, but it looks a good soccer pick if you have a decent amount of money to stake.
Some fun can be had in guessing a correct score. BetVictor has +1050 on a 2-1 victory for Crystal Palace, which is a great price. Bookmakers see the most likely score being 1-1 (+600 at Bet Victor) so you could hedge your bets and back that too.

An interesting feature of the Crystal Palace side is that it lacks an out and out striker, which means guessing the first goal scorer is a bit of a lottery. You can get good soccer odds though and their tricky wingers are all well-priced: Gayle is +650 at PaddyPower, Bolasie +750 at Paddy Power and Zaha is +950 at 888. Also take a look at Cabaye, who takes penalties and is +900 at William Hill
