Norwich appear as favorite across the board to outplay West Brom, but can we really expect them to step up and win? Let us review the soccer odds to decide on the outcome of this matchup.

Norwich
Newly promoted Norwich are favorites to prevail over West Brom in this match, but morale will be low after a 6-2 drubbing at the hands of Newcastle in their last game and it will be a tough order to bounce back with a win. Newcastle were bottom of the league, without a win in eight games, when they annihilated Norwich on Sunday in a result that nobody saw coming. Up until then, Norwich had been defensively solid and hard to break down, grinding out some impressive results to leave them looking likely to survive their first season back in the Premiership. But the manner of their capitulation will have shaken them badly. Expect them to train hard all week and ensure there is no repeat of that thrashing in this game. They will have a point to prove and they will be up for it from the first whistle. But the +100 price is not too appealing for a team that will also be nervous and jittery.

West Brom
West Brom come into the game on the back of an unconvincing 1-0 win over a struggling Sunderland side. They only won that game after a howler from Sunderland goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon, who dropped the ball at West Brom striker Saido Berahino’s feet and left him with a simple tap in to an empty net. They are well-drilled, organised and defensively resilient under Tony Pulis, but they are not the most easy on the eye and don’t score a lot of goals. Berahino is the one positive in a relatively toothless attack, and is a good option for first goalscorer at +700 with Betfair. Review our Premier League Betting Odds Board for more.

Odds Overview
Dieumerci Mbokani is another one to look out for here. The powerful striker comes into the match in red-hot form, with three goals in three games, and justifies his status as +500 favourite to be first goalscorer. He scored his first goal for Norwich in their 2-1 defeat to Leicester, then grabbed one for DR Congo in a 2-0 win over Nigeria and smashed one in during the 6-2 defeat to Newcastle. He is full of pace, power, and confidence and will be a real handful for the West Brom defense.

West Brom look decent value at +333, but it is difficult to see them winning this game. They have won three this season, but have rarely looked particularly convincing. Last month, they also lost 3-0 to Norwich. It was in the League Cup and neither team fielded a full strength side, but it does not bode well for their return to Carrow Road.

A draw looks a very interesting soccer pick at +250. It would suit both sides. Norwich need to bounce back from their humiliating defeat and a gutsy draw could be a stepping stone back towards the form they enjoyed earlier in the season. West Brom need to get points on the board and a draw away at Norwich would be a creditable result. If the teams are drawing with 10 minutes to go, you cannot really imagine either one going hell for leather for the win, lest they risk pouring too many men forward, getting caught on the break, and losing the game to a late goal.

Given the form of Berahino and Mbokani, and the leaky defenses both teams have, a score draw is more likely than a stalemate, with 1-1 looking a good bet at +650. Boyle sports is offering -275 on over 1.5 goals, and that also looks a solid bet, as does Paddy Power’s -120 for both teams to score.
