With Tottenham hard on their heels the Foxes will look to stay ahead of the chasing pack this weekend by picking up another win against visiting Southampton.

With an easier end of season run-in than their title rivals Leicester are now expected by many to be holding the Premier League trophy aloft at the end of May but they still have a small number of tricky ties to negotiate and Southampton may just be in that number.

Before the International break, Southampton had started to look like they were getting back into their stride after a period of indifferent results.

Their comeback to win 3-2 against Liverpool showed that they were not to be taken lightly.  On the other hand Leicester have been putting together a series of 1-0 victories, only their 2-2 draw against West Brom breaks from this in their last 5 games.

Neither side should lack motivation for this game.  Being 5 points ahead of their competition with just 6 games to go would be a massive statement for Leicester who have punched above their weight all season.  Southampton are just outside the European spots and will be looking to catch West Ham to take that 5th spot.

Southampton’s form on the road could let them down though.  Their defense has been solid but with just 13 goals scored away from the St. Mary’s Stadium their attack has let them down on a number of occasions.  In recent game against Stoke they only came away with the points because of poor finishing from the Stoke attackers.  Leicester’s results at the King Power stadium befit a side at the top of the table.  They have shipped just 15 Premier League goals in home games and scored a formidable tally of 25.  Jamie Vardy (fresh from his scoring exploits with England) and Riyad Mahrez remain the danger men for the home team and Southampton will be hoping that Mahrez in particular will be a little fatigued from his long trip out to Ethiopia for an African Cup of Nations qualifier.

The fitness of Kasper Schmeichel may be a concern as he limped out of training with Denmark earlier in the week.  Leicester will not want to go into a match without him as he’s become a very important player for him and may just be starting to step out of his father’s shadow.

The last time these two met, Leicester came back from 2 goals down to salvage a point from the game.  Last season Leicester picked up all 3 points in this encounter by winning 2-0 as part of their “great escape” from relegation.

SBOBet are pricing a Leicester win at +125 soccer odds and I’m happy to take a slice of that action with my soccer picks. I don’t think either side will run away with this game but with average odds of -153 for under 2.5 goals there isn’t mch value in that bet.
