Man. U. have got second place in their sights, with an outside chance of the title if they beat Chelsea. Lee Phelps ponders that & the best bet based on the odds for his free soccer pick.

Who would have thought all those years ago when Jose Mourinho was a fledgling Coach under the tutelage of Louis van Gaal, they would square up for a top of the table clash which could yet still decide the title.

Let me make my position clear I don't think it's a title decider, I've been squarely on Chelsea's side for a long time now, but this clearly is a major step towards finishing second place behind the Blues.

Soccer odds makers have hosts and league legends Chelsea priced as -105 favorites with Manchester United healthy +280 underdogs and the Draw priced at +250 (bet365).

The absence of Diego Costa and potentially Loic Remy changes the approach for Jose Mourinho and his team. Their performance at QPR looked toothless, in fact their goal was their first shot on target and that can in the 88th minute.

I can see them setting up strong with Matic and Fabregas in defensive midfield role and looking for a point to keep ticking over.

I was intrigued by the manager talking about the 11 points they need to win the title (that's counting g goal difference by the way) and saying that doesn't mean they have to beat United, Arsenal and Liverpool who they must play. The remaining games see them play Leicester, Crystal Palace, West Brom and Sunderland, so providing they pick up a point against those big three, they shouldn't struggle to get another nine from those four games.

Manchester United
The confidence that is flooding back through van Gaal's side is amazing got back into that familiar stride they had under Sir Alex Ferguson and look a threat at all times. The game against Manchester City showed that, but with added defensive stability. Chris Smalling's performance working alongside Michael Carrick was excellent.

It's worth remembering United's away form isn't a patch on their home form. They have won five, drawn seven and lost three, with 19 goals scored in 15 games and 17 conceded.

Like Chelsea, I can see them settling for a point and targeting the game against Arsenal.

Soccer picks
As for my soccer pick I'm going for a tactical match here and a draw between the two old friends, I'd even go so far as to suggest a correct score of 1-1.
