Even though the Stampeders are 5-5 against the spread, they are 0-4 ATS at home. Edmonton, whose record is 3-8, is 4-7 ATS. All four of those covers have come on the road. It’s an unusual pattern that the Stampeders seem to play worse at home and the Elks seem to play better on the road. Now, facing their biggest spread of the season, can the Stampeders cover against their bitter rivals?

The Elks are arguably the worst team in the CFL. They are tied for the worst record in the league after losing last week to another team at the bottom, the Redblacks. Quarterback Taylor Cornelius threw for 287 yards, zero touchdowns, and an interception, and also led the team in rushing with 39 in that loss. The Elks only rushed for a total of 78 yards total.

Calgary played a close game last week against Winnipeg, arguably the best defense in the league, and rushed for 115 yards. They should be in control the entire game against the Elks.

New QB Jake Maier played well for the Stampeders last week against the Bombers, throwing for 294 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Malik Henry had seven receptions and 122 yards. A week after giving up 101 yards to Nathaniel Behar, the Elks will struggle to cover Henry. They’ll also have to cover Reggie Begelton who has 516 yards this year.

Since taking over for Bo Levi-Mitchell, Maier has played a very clean game, throwing for a 79.95% completion rate. He should have no problem picking apart the Elks secondary.
