The undefeated WBC lightweight world champion Devin Haney (24-0, 15 KOs) battles 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist and two-time world champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (30-3, 18 KOs) at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Here’s a complete preview, including updated boxing odds and our betting pick.

Devin Haney vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa

Saturday, November 07, 2020 – 10:30 PM EDT at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel

Devin Haney

Devin Haney hasn't fought since defeating Alfredo Santiago via shutout decision on November 9th at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. Haney suffered a dislocated shoulder in that fight and it required surgery the following month. The 21-year-old was then sidelined even further because of COVID-19 but he's already mended.

"Gamboa is a veteran; he was a unified world champion, so Gamboa is no slouch, and he’s the best name on my resume so far. I can’t underestimate his power. In his last fight, he went 12 rounds with Tank [Gervonta Davis], so he’s durable, hungry, and I can’t underestimate him."

Yuriorkis Gamboa

Yuriorkis Gamboa won a gold medal in the 2004 Olympics for Cuba and he had a title reign as a featherweight a decade ago. Gamboa is now 38 years old and he's coming off a 12th-round knockout loss against Gervonta Davis on December 28th at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Gamboa was knocked down three times and he reportedly suffered an injury as well, hurting his Achilles in the second round.

"Gamboa is a tough opponent; he’s been in there with the best. He hurt [Terence] Crawford [in a 2014 TKO loss]. He landed a good shot and hurt Crawford… Gamboa, trains hard. I want to put on a great fight for the fans," Devin Haney said.

"I know what I have to do and I would rather not share that," Gamboa said. "God is with me. He will give me strength to face anyone in the ring. My trust is in God."

This will be a classic battle between experience and youth. Haney is a better boxer than Gervonta Davis, he has a better style and more height and reach. Can Gamboa's experience help him overcome that? Gamboa is aware that almost everyone is discarding him and he will use that as encouragement.

Gamboa fought 11 rounds with a broken Achilles heel against Davis and it was his strong supporting foot. He proved that he is a warrior who always comes to fight. Both fighters will put on a good show. I can see this fight going to the scorecards. The play I like for my boxing picks is the Over.
