Two Lone Star State programs meet a the Bracket 2 Elimination game on Tuesday afternoon when Texas A&M faces #6 TCU in the College World Series at a very warm TD AmeriTrade Park Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska in a win-or-go-home spot for both Texas schools.

Odds Overview—College World Series Bracket 2 Elimination Game

Texas A&M vs. #6 TCU (ESPN, 2 pm ET): It will be win or go home for either Texas A&M (41-22) or No. 6-ranked TCU in this (Loser’s) Bracket 2 Elimination matchup and Game 6 of the College World Series from TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska on Tuesday afternoon. Offshore sportsbooks have TCU -160 favorites (5Dimes) here with the Total 9½o -115 (5Dimes) with the Run Line odds seeing the Horned Frogs -1½ +120 with the Aggies +1½ -140 (5Dimes). In the day’s second game—the (Winner’s) Bracket 2 showdown—#7 Louisville meets #3 Florida in what will be a tough loss for the loser, with that school then earning (at least) a date with the winner of this game on Thursday.

Texas A&M Aggies

Texas A&M (.275 BA, 7.2 RF-3.6 RA) were the longshots (17/1) to win the CWS of the eight teams who made it to Omaha and the unseeded Aggies still haven’t won a game in this upper echelon part of the tournament since 1993 after losing to #7 Louisville (52-10) on Saturday in its opener, 8-4. A&M (45 RPI) and Manager Rob Childress got to this do-or-die point by eliminating Davidson at their own Blue Bell Park in College Station in the College Station Super Regional (7-6, 12-6). Against the Cardinals in Omaha on Sunday, the Aggies put out a Starting Lineup of: CF Choruby, DH Foster, SS Shewmake, 1B Coleman, C Bedford, RF Kopetsky, LF Pennington, 3B Janca, SS Homan with Astros 2nd Round Draft Pick Corbin Martin (7-4) starting for A&M and allowing 5 ER on 5 Hits and getting only 5 Louisville batters out. Kopetsky (.308) went 3-for-4 while leadoff man Choruby (.326) had 2 Hits for Texas A&M.

With so much at stake here, the Aggies will use whatever Pitcher it takes with No. 1 guy Brigham Hill (8-3, 3.18 ERA; Round 5, Pick 163, Nationals, MLB Draft) the likely starter with Martin and reliever Mitchell Kilkenny (3-3, 3.23 ERA) all ready to go should TCU get on any kind of Offensive roll. This is A&M’s fifth CWS appearance and they are a paltry 2-11 overall (15.4%).

TCU Horned Frogs

TCU (6-3 vs. Opponents at Neutral Site) expects to be here whereas unseeded A&M may feel fortunate just to have made it to Omaha, and the Horned Frogs RPI of 7 and opening betting odds around +375 to win the CWS show the oddsmakers know who has the better team and the better program right now. The Horned Frogs got to this must-win point by winning the Fort Worth Super Regional at its home site, ousting Missouri State (3-2, 8-1) before getting blanked and limited to just 2 Hits by Florida (48-18) ace Alex Faedo, 3-0. Against the Gators on Sunday, 16th-year TCU (2-1 vs CWS teams) Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle had a Starting Lineup of: RF Wade, DH Humphries, C Skoug, 2B Warner, CF Brown, 3B Barzilli, 1B Wanhanen, LF Watson, SS Merrill with Jared Janczak (2.19 ERA) pitching pretty well (6.0 IP, 3 ER, 3 Hits) although he allowed a deadly 5 Walks and faced a Pitcher hard to beat in that spot. 2B Cam Warner had both Hits for the Big 12’s TCU (8-9 all-time in CWS).

TCU is the eighth program in CWS history to make it to the tournament four straight times and with that valuable Experience and aces Mitchell Traver (20th Round MLB Draft Pick, Angels) and Brian Howard (8th Round MLB Draft Pick, Reds) and the power of Evan Skoug (20 HRs) and Speed (CWS-leading 102 SBs), this one could be a Pitcher’s Duel and low-scoring if both starters are on the first three innings here.

Omaha Weather Forecast, Game Analysis and Picks

TWC forecast for Omaha Tuesday afternoon is calling for a Mainly Sunny Sky with a High around 92° with W Winds from 10 to 15 mph, so, the heat may wear on players along with the Pressure of playing in an Elimination game with the season on the line. These things may be good for the Under, along with the possible Starters (Hill, Howard) who should be hard to hit their first and maybe second time through their opponents’ lineups should they both last. Not letting Shewmake (.325, 68 RBI) and Choruby (.325, 55 Runs) explode at the plate for A&M (1-3 vs. Opponents at Neutral Site) will be the key for the TCU hurlers while Aggies pitchers will have to worry about aforementioned longball threat and co-Big 12 Player of the Year Skoug (.272), Warner (.295), Nolan Brown (.292) and leadoff man and RF Austen Wade (.338 BA, .450 OBP).

With TCU having that valuable Experience and possibly higher Expectations here and coming off a game facing a Pitcher who threw a gem, expect the Horned Frogs to get 3-6 Runs here and find a way to shut down a potentially dangerous Aggies squad, in a low-scoring dogfight featuring some possibly decent but desperate pitching.
