Here's an expert soccer pick for this match where the top scoring English player in the Premier League lines up against Manchester United's nervy defence. Are West Brom's betting odds correct?

For a long, long time in the Premier League, Manchester United would turn up to play West Brom, collect three points and that was that, but one of the many runs that ended last season was West Brom’s inability to beat them. The victory came at Old Trafford with a certain Saido Berahino grabbing the winner and although Man U avenged that at The Hawthorns, winning three nil, the aura has gone.

WBA
Alan Irvine spent the last international break working his players hard on the training ground, picking up fitness levels and getting some quality time with his squad and whilst the first match following the return was a 2-0 defeat at Everton, the form certainly picked up after that. They beat Tottenham, Hull and Burnley, before losing 2-1 to Liverpool. The loss to Everton is their only home loss this season, but it is also their only home game against a ‘big’ side.

When you analyse the stats, West Brom are pretty much middle of everything, but there is one player, who I have already mentioned, who shines like a beacon in the side. Berahino has score nine goals in 13 matches for club and country this season, in fact he scored for England U21s in the first leg of a two-legged play off for the European Championship during the break. His tally in the league is five in seven and those goals have been scored from a total of 21 shots on goal. With United allowing their opponents 12 shots per game, he has to be in your thinking when betting on this match.

Man U
The news just keeps getting worse for Louis van Gaal in terms of injuries, now Antonio Valencia is out of action. The Ecuadorian was injured during United’s win over Everton and it hadn’t appeared to be all that serious it now seems the wide-man will not be available for Monday’s trip to the Midlands.

To the relief of those placing their soccer picks on Man Utd.,Van Gaal has even brought in a new physio, Matt Radcliffe, which will help resolve the injury crisis. At the moment he’s got plenty on too, with Valencia joining Paddy McNair (hamstring), Ander Herrera (rib), Chris Smalling (thigh), Jonny Evans (ankle), Ashley Young (groin), Phil Jones (hamstring), Jesse Lingard (knee) and Michael Carrick (ankle) on the treatment table.

There are mixed messages coming from Old Trafford with regards Carrick, there are some who are saying he’ll play in the role Danny Blind has been occupying at the base of the diamond. Blind played in both of the Netherlands games and may get a rest. With this game on Monday night UK time, I’d be surprised though. Surely the manager would play Blind and bring Carrick on.

The other change may see Juan Mata benched, with Adnan Januzaj playing at the tip of the midfield four behind Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao, who scored for Colombia during his time away from England.

Januzaj isn’t assured a start, United’s Dutch boss has been pretty blunt when asked why the 19-year-old wasn’t getting a chance. “He has to compete with very good players. That’s why he hasn’t started yet.”

Januzaj was an unused sub for Belgium in their Euro qualifiers against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Andorra so he’s fresh and has always hankered after the number 10 role. Having scored a hat trick against Sunderland for the Under 21s and a goal at Spurs for Warren Joyce’s side he is certainly in form.

Soccer Picks
Manchester United’s back-to-back wins were pretty fortunate, they hung on against both West Ham and Everton, but that can’t be a criticism, more a feature that they are getting there. The second halves have been a worry for me though and with even less players to pick from and a much fresher West Brom side, the 4/1 for a home win look big. For safety I’ll play the WBA + 1 goal on the handicap at 5/4. But my free pick in this one has to Saido Berahino. A player in scoring form, with confidence, against a fragile defence priced at 13/5 soccer odds to score anytime in the game is too good to turn down.

Free Soccer Pick: Saido Berahino to score anytime 13/5 at BetOnline
