Club Brugge are enjoying a Cinderella run in Europe's 2nd-tier competition. Can they keep their campaign alive at the expense of Dnipro? Here's a match preview of the first leg & our soccer picks.

Club Brugge Have Home Edge
Club Brugge kept their hopes of a repeat of their run to the 1976 final alive in Europe's second-tier competition by reaching the last eight. Can they continue their Cinderella run at the expense of a tenacious Dnipro side?

Club Brugge are going to open the quarterfinal tie at Jan Breydelstadion in Brugge on Thursday, April 16. Home edge that correlates to favourable soccer odds in the first leg, albeit smack down at Even money.

The Belgian side is enjoying a stellar campaign. After finishing group play undefeated with a 3-3-0 record and top spot in Group B, the Belgians entered the knockout rounds as one of the competition long shots, although that memo doesn't seem to have ever made it into their camp as they've been a chalk full of surprises en route to the quarterfinal stage.

In the R32, they overcame Danish hopefuls AaB, winning both legs comprehensively and taking the tie 6-1 on aggregate. In the R16, they punched above their weight class to upend Besiktas 5-2 on aggregate after come-from behind wins in both legs. In so doing, they put paid on their underdog odds emphatically. Club Brugge were matched as the +5000 long shots of the competition to win outright and the +150 underdogs to advance into the last eight at the expense of the highly favoured Turkish side at -188 to advance.

Dnipro Squeak Into Quarterfinals
Dnipro advanced into the quarterfinals by the skin of their teeth, on the away goals rule. But you won't find them apologising for it. They are through to the quarterfinal round of the prestigious UEFA Europa League competition and that's all that counts.

To be fair, one can't take nothing away from the Ukrainian upstarts. They won the first leg 1-0 at home before losing the second leg 2-1 in Amsterdam. The vital away goal proving to be the clincher. 'Them are the rules' , as it were. Before the R16, the dispatched a reputable Olimpiacos side 4-2 on aggregate after winning their home leg 2-0 and tying the second leg 2-2 in Piraeus.

As the road team in the first leg, Dnipro enter as the long shot soccer pick at +275 to win outright. This market stance is underscored by their road form throughout the competition: in group play they went 1-1-1 on the road, and in the knockouts they've gone 0-1-1 so far. Winning on the road is going to be a challenge, especially against a confident Club Brugge that is undefeated at home through the rounds.

Soccer Betting Verdict
While both Club Brugge and Dnipro are the long shots in the competition, matched at +1400 to win outright on the UEFA Europa League Odds board, they are very much in it. In avoiding some of the competition heavyweights, they are sit in an advantageous position, on a level playing field with an equal shot to advance into the semis. You can bet they'll both fancy their chances and look to capitalise.

So which side of the coin do soccer bettors turn to for their soccer picks? Well, Club Brugge probably have the best chance to seize the tie by the scruff of its neck, given their overall form in the competition, and that makes them a solid soccer pick at +100 to win the first leg in our books. Dnipro have proved tenacious opponents, but their best results have been on home turf.  This doesn't mean that they should be dismissed out of hand when this tie gets off the mark. Rather it's going to be a big ask to come through as the +275 underdogs in our opinion.
