As one of the biggest favorites on the soccer odds board for opening weekend, Chelsea will be widely expected to secure a win against Swansea City in Premier League play.

Odds Overview
No surprise here. The Blues are big-time favorites, listed at -300 to win at some books and even as high as -400 to secure the victory at other outlets.

A Swansea City win is available in a wide ranging starting at +700 and going up to +1000, while a draw is located at anywhere from +350 to +450. Keep tracking the live line movement for yourself at SBR's live odds board.

After winning two trophies last season, the Blues are back and have been installed as the favorites to repeat as league champs again in 2015/16. They weren't challenged all that much last season, but the road figures to be quite a bit tougher this time around, now that Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United have all had big transfer moves over the summer.

Of course, it's not like Chelsea really needed to make many changes. After all, this is a team that ran away from the pack in the Premier League and also managed to win the Capital One Cup. The Blues did bring in Radamel Falcao on loan, but it remains to be seen how big of a role he has alongside Diego Costa and Loic Remy.

The fact of the matter is this squad is as strong as ever, fortified at every position on the field. Thibaut Courtois is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, the defense, led by John Terry, is sturdy, and there are a host of maestros further up the pitch, namely Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas, Oscar, and Juan Cuadrado, among others. Jose Mourinho is also one of the better managers out there and will have his team ready each and every match day.

Swansea City
Eighth place may not sound all that good, but the Swans had to be happy with their final positioning in the cutthroat Premier League. Surviving the drop, let alone marching into the top 10 shouldn't go unnoticed, and now we get to see what kind of follow-up act we'll see out of Swansea City, currently managed by Garry Monk.

As deemed necessary, the Swans were quite active in the transfer market. They spent the most on Portuguese attacker Eder, and also reached deals with Andre Ayew and Franck Tabanou. Bring Ayew on board for a free transfer could prove out to be a shrewd piece of business.

Swansea City will bring back a pretty talented bunch for the start of the 2015/16 season. The team is trying to dump Michu, and they'll be relying heavily on the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Jonjo Shelvey and Bafetimbi Gomis, all of whom are back at another crack at leading Swansea to the top of the league. We're particularly curious to see how both Ayew and Eder fit into Monk's plans.

Premier League Pick
We get that the Swans are no pushovers and that they will be making life difficult on a lot of teams this season, but we don't anticipate that happening in this opening showdown with the defending league champions.

The Blues simply should prove to be too strong, particularly since they're at home at Stamford Bridge where they've had such a sterling record in recent years.

It may not come all that easy, but we look for Chelsea to gain the edge at some point in this match and wind up as the winners. We may want to get a little more creative with our soccer picks, however, in order to get better bang for our buck, so we'd recommend a handicap wager on the Blues to win by at least two goals.
