Wednesday’s round of Champions League betting features Real Madrid and PSG in their respective ties. Join as us we preview both in this space and rundown the soccer odds before serving up choice soccer picks.

Champions League Quarterfinals Preview
Real Madrid, arguably, have drawn the easiest quarterfinal matchup of the entire field with Wolfsburg. The Bundesliga side are one of two longshots of the competition. Meanwhile, PSG have drawn Man City in the other quarterfinal clash slated for Wednesday, a matchup that although is cornered in the French camp wholeheartedly on the exchange isn’t an impossible task for City to overcome. Indeed, there are those soccer bettors that aren’t quite ready to write off City just yet.

Wolfsburg vs. Real Madrid
Wolfsburg are through to their first-ever Champions League quarterfinals, accomplishing the feat in only their second appearance in the competition, six years after their first-ever appearance in 2009/10 season. By all accounts, this is the furthest they can realistically hope to go in this campaign. Drawing Real Madrid at this stage spells an almost certain end, not least because it marks an entirely different proposition from their previous opponent. The Bundesliga longshots reached the last eight after edging newcomers KAA Gent 4-2 on aggregate.

The Spanish heavyweights are in a different league altogether. Real are through to their sixth straight quarterfinal of Europe’s top-flight club competition and they’ve reached the semis in all previous five appearances, even going to win it a couple of seasons ago. Obviously, for Real this is an advantageous draw, one that many expect will serve up their sixth straight semi-final appearance. (Real currently are third overall to win the competition at +500 in outrights, which is a good value soccer pick for those looking for a slight outsider).

Not for nothing are Real runaway favorites at -150 to win the first leg on the away. They overpowered Roma in the last 16 winning both legs 2-0 courtesy of Cristiano Ronaldo’s singular efforts. Wolfsburg are struggling on form across competitions, namely in domestic action where they are winless since their last Champions League deposit. Of course, this is a monumental game for Wolfsburg and soccer bettors can’t take anything for granted. The Bundesliga upstarts do have home advantage in the first leg, where they’ve enjoyed good fortunes in this campaign, and that can’t be overplayed enough. We expect a thrilling encounter between this pair and, even, lots of goals. Still, it’s hard to look beyond a Real win and, as such, they are our choice soccer pick at -150 soccer odds to win outright.

PSG vs. Man City
Manchester City are through to their first-ever quarterfinal of the Champions League. Sounds rather strange, but it’s a true story. It’s easy to forget that only a few years ago the Citizens won their first-ever Premier League title.

In any event, the betting exchange doesn’t hold out much hope for Man City in the quarterfinals, advancing at the expense of PSG looks to be a tough ask by the soccer odds where Man City are priced at +400 to win the first leg at the Stade de Paris. It’s not that the Premier League sides lacks quality, but rather they’re banged up right now and, thus, struggling in domestic action.

PSG, meanwhile, are flying high in domestic action. In Champions League, they emerged out of a tough group with Real Madrid and then edged former champions Chelsea in the R16. Quite rightly PSG are the firm favorites to win this tie – a futures bet available at -225 at bet365 – as well the no nonsense home favorites at -138 to win the first leg.

Man City, however, could give the French leaders a run for their money. The odds may be stacked against them but on paper they do have plenty of attacking potential to make this a thrilling showdown over the course of two legs. Why we’re not willing to risk a wager on Man City though is the abysmal record this season against noteworthy opponents. Simply put, they’ve failed at the time of asking and it’s a longshot soccer pick to expect them to, all of a sudden, rise to the occasion here.
