There’s more Champions League action than you can Shakhtar a stick at this week. And when Borussia Dortmund take on Shakhtar winning money with football betting is just a click away. Check out our Champions League tips & predictions to find out where we believe the value lies here.

Who the Shakhtar are Donetsk I hear you cry! Well they’re correctly called ?? «??????» ??????? and are the top Ukrainian professional football club. They hail from the city of Donetsk. They have the honour of being the first Ukrainian club to win the UEFA Cup in 2009. They are currently top of their country’s league (having only dropped one game out of 18) and booked they’re place in eth final 16 of the Champions League at the expense of Chelsea (finishing second in Group E). What’s more they are in the middle of their three-month domestic winter break, (which finishes on 1 March). They may have lost their most recent game, 1-0 to Norway's Odd Grenland on 3 February, but look pretty rested and tasty ahead of Wednesday’s clash.

Facing up to the pride of the Ukraine is Borussia Dortmund who were on a five-match winning run in all competitions before Saturday's 4-1 defeat at home to Hamburg. They booked their place in the last 16 by wining Group B (ahead of no lesser team than Real Madrid).

Enough with the pre-amble…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?

Shakhtar Donetsk may have lost to Juventus 0-1, thanks to an own goal that gave the Bianconeri top spot in the groups stages, of the Champions League. But will fancy their chances against anyone, in the greatest show on earth. They may be 33/1 to win the Champions League, 9th favourite behind the remaining English teams (amongst others) but we’ll definitely see some action on Wednesday night.

Soccer odds list Dortmund at “just” 7/1 to win the Champions League fourth favourite behind the Spanish sides and Bayern Munich.

Last fives

Shakhtar Donetsk have two wins, two defeats and a draw in their last five games competitive games while Bourissia will still be reeling from their 4-1 defeat at the hands of Hamburg in the Bundesliga last weekend, but before that they were sitting pretty on four straight wins and they'd clocked up 11 goals since the Budesglige started up again in January. Shakhtar should be a lot fresher having played their last competitive match back in December.

Shakhtar are 22/7 to reach the semis in et Champions League while Dortmund are 25/18 with the sportsbooks. That should give you a pretty big clue as to who is going to win this match, but the gods of football are fickle creatures.

There’s plenty of betting to be had on Dortmund as the sportsbooks have them at 13/5 to make the Quarter finals and 9/2 to make the final.

If you’re feeling nationalistic or jingoistic, you should know that the odds on eth winning side being German are 11/4, while the same happening for the Ukraine is at 40/1. As an odd aside you can also pick up odds of 9/1 on Dortmund not winning any games from here on in…and if you’re that way inclined why not hitch that bet to Shakhtar beating them on Wednesday night at 6/4.

Even if not. I am adding a home victory to my Champion League picks, although not with a clean sheet.

Prediction: Shakhtar win 2-1available at 10/1 with Bet Victor.
