Zach Collaros rebounding against B.C. is one of our top Lions vs. Blue Bombers picks and predictions.

The B.C. Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers open the CFL's Week 9 slate with the game of the week as we look at our best Lions vs. Blue Bombers picks and predictions based on the latest CFL odds from our best sportsbooks in Canada.

Few sequels top the first, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are definitely looking to rebound after their 30-6 home-field loss to the B.C. Lions on June 22.

The Lions clinically shut down the Winnipeg offense and sacked Most Outstanding Player candidate Zach Collaros a season-high seven times. And make no mistake, the outcome of this game will have another major impact in the Grey Cup odds as the Lions and Bombers continue their fight fot the West Division's top seed.

Winnipeg is rested following its Week 8 bye, and the Bombers will also be bolstered on defense with linebacker Kyrie Wilson and defensive back Winston Rose activated off the six-game injured list ahead of the matchup.

B.C. is also turning to backup quarterback Dane Evans for a second consecutive game. Starter Vernon Adams Jr. (knee) has turned in limited practices this week and isn't expected to play.

Here are our best Lions vs. Blue Bombers picks and predictions for Week 9 (odds via our best betting sites in Canada; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

I value the extra time Winnipeg head coach Mike O’Shea, offensive coordinator Buck Pierce and the offensive line have had to prepare for the B.C. pass rush. Collaros isn’t going down seven times this time around, and I anticipate the Bombers to test the top-ranked B.C. defense.

Add the highlighted defensive reinforcements returning for Winnipeg, and the Lions offense is far less intimidating with Evans behind center.

The Blue Bombers have been an opportunistic bunch, generating 18 turnovers through seven games. Evans tossed up 16 interceptions across 17 games and 13 starts for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last year, and he threw another one when called into duty in Week 7 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

It's also a short turnaround for B.C. after playing Week 8's Saturday nightcap.

Finally, I expect this line to move further in Winnipeg’s direction, so we’re landing a good number at -5.5.
