Week 6 of the CFL regular season comes to a close this Saturday night with a West Division clash between the British Columbia Lions and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Both the BC Lions and the Saskatchewan Roughriders need a win on Saturday night to get their season back on track in the highly competitive West Division. They have already combined to lose five division games against zero wins, so something has to give in this matchup.

British Columbia Lions at Saskatchewan Roughriders

Saturday, July 20, 2019 - 07:00 PM EDT

Free Pick: Take BC at Saskatchewan UNDER 51.5

Best Line Offered: 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3805097, "sportsbooksIds":[19,43,1096,180,169], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

The Lions have stumbled out of the gate to a 1-4 start both straight-up and against the spread. After averaging 26 points in its first three games to help take the total OVER the closing line each time, BC’s offense has been held to a combined 24 points its last two games to help keep the total UNDER in a road win against Toronto and a loss at home to Edmonton.

In last Thursday’s 33-6 loss to the Eskimos, quarterback Mike Reilly completed 17-of-26 passing attempts for 157 yards and zero touchdown throws against one interception. In two previous seasons with Edmonton, Reilly led the CFL in total passing yards. Through five previous starts with the Lions, he has thrown for 1,256 yards with as many touchdown passes as interceptions (5). Another issue has been a nonexistent ground game. John White gained 53 yards in BC’s 11 rushing attempts in Week 5.

Saskatchewan started the season with road losses to Hamilton and Ottawa before hammering Toronto 32-7 to notch its first win of the season. In Week 4, the Roughriders came up well short at home in a 37-10 loss to Calgary as five-point favorites. The total stayed UNDER 51.5 points in that game and it has stayed UNDER in three of their first four outings this year.

In a far too familiar scenario, quarterback Zach Collaros remains out of the lineup due to injury. Cody Fajardo took his place and he has passed for 945 yards with four touchdown throws against two picks. He was pulled for rookie QB Isaac Harker in the loss to Calgary, but I would expect him back in the starting lineup for this Saturday night. William Powell is the team’s leading rusher with 276 yards and a pair of scores on 60 carries.

Head-to-Head Betting Trends

The Lions have won four of their last six road games against the Roughriders SU and the total has stayed UNDER in 10 of the last 13 meetings in Saskatchewan. The total has also stayed UNDER in 17 of the last 23 meetings overall.

Free Betting Pick

It is hard to know what to expect from either team given a pair of sloppy starts. I just do not see either offense playing well enough to put all that many points on the board. I have this game staying UNDER a total line that should open around 51 points.

CFL ‘Best Bet’ Record: 3-2

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

2019 #CFL Week 6 Picks & TV Schedule - ;/a>
— Sports Teller (@Sports_Teller) 14 de julho de 2019
\n\n"}[/]

Other CFL Week 6 Games:

Thursday, July 18

Toronto at Calgary (-10.5) Total Line: 53.5 (9 p.m.)

Look for 0-4 Toronto to come into Calgary as a heavy underdog in search of its first win of the season. I expect Ottawa to cover this time around as a road underdog.

Saturday, July 20

Edmonton (-4) at Montreal Total Line: 54 (4 p.m.)

Edmonton opened the new season with a 32-25 victory against Montreal, but it could not cover as an eight-point home favorite. The Alouettes are coming off back-to-back SU upsets against Hamilton at home and Ottawa on the road, but they come up short at home in this one both SU and ATS.
