Sports handicapper Ian Cameron provides his Play Of The Week for CFL Week 16 action.

Edmonton Eskimos vs. Montreal Alouettes

The Edmonton Eskimos had lost three straight games including two of them in OT and held a team meeting to try and right the ship as they were 5-7 on the season at the time and the Eskimos responded positively notching B2B wins against the BC Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Edmonton offense led by QB Mike Reilly has gotten back on track with 67 points in the last two games combined showing a great balance between the run behind RB’s Shakir Bell and John White and the pass highlighted by their explosive receiving corps of Adarius Bowman, Derel Walker, and Chris Getzlaf.

The Eskimos have gone 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games and will be looking to continue that surge here in Montreal against the Alouettes. It has been a rough season for Montreal with struggles on the field and a ton of drama off the field for this team. They were 3-9 SU prior to last week when they made a head coaching change as Jim Popp stepped down and Jacques Chapdelaine took over as Montreal head coach and coming off the bye week, the Alouettes showed plenty of energy and enthusiasm as they rolled to a 38-11 blowout win to the Toronto Argos who have plenty of problems on and off the field themselves right now. It was Montreal’s best game of the season and maybe you can make the argument that the Alouettes got a spark from the bye week and coaching change but the fact remains, they beat a struggling team plagued by problems and internal locker room issues. Now, they are facing a much better team from the superior West Division so I’m not overreacting to that Montreal win nor am I ready to proclaim they are turning a corner.

It’s worth noting The West has proven themselves to be far superior to the East Division this season with the top four West teams: Calgary, BC, Winnipeg and Edmonton all sporting records of .500 or better. Meanwhile, the 1st place team in the East (Ottawa) is 6-6-1 with Hamilton, Toronto and Montreal all below .500 and the lines actually prove it across the board but don't forget the list of best sportsbooks anyway. Montreal is 0-4 SU and ATS in their last 4 games against West Division opponents including one to this Edmonton team and I expect them to be in tough here. Edmonton is no Toronto and I expect the Eskimos to prove it with a win and cover. Edmonton will be my CFL Week 16 Play Of The Week, therefore, my CFL pick.

Free CFL Pick: Edmonton -3 -105
Best Line Offered: at Bookmaker
CFL POW Record: 10-5 67%

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3035662, "sportsbooksIds":[93,238,19,227,92], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

[/]{"component":"video", "type":"youtube", "url":"", "videoSize":"Large" }[/]
