Ottawa RedBlacks at British Columbia Lions
The RedBlacks’ promising 2-0 start has deteriorated to a straight-up 3-8 record through 11 games. They have lost their last four games with a 1-3 record against the spread. This will be the first meeting in a home-and-home series against the Lions with a chance to get their season back on track. The issue has been a defense that has allowed an average of 30.2 points per game. If Ottawa can get some better production from quarterback Jonathon Jennings, it should be able to keep this game close.
BC is bringing up the rear in the West Division at 1-10 SU with a 4-7 record ATS. It has lost its last seven games SU while still managing to cover in three of its last four outings. The Lions are 0-3 ATS in the only three games they did not close as underdogs. This is another defense that has struggled to keep opposing teams out of the end zone with a points-allowed average of 31.1.
Betting Pick: Take Ottawa +4.5 points with 5Dimes
Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Calgary Stampeders
The 9-2 Tiger-Cats have built a solid 3 ½-game lead in the East Division standings over Montreal. They are 6-4-1 ATS with a 2-3 record ATS on the road this season. Hamilton has relied on backup quarterback Dane Evans to run an offense that is averaging 30.5 points per game. Their defense is ranked first in the CFL when it comes to points allowed (19.7). This will be a great test after beating Calgary 30-23 at home on July 13 as a four-point favorite.
The defending Grey Cup champs have returned to form in a recent home-and-home sweep against Edmonton. It is two games in back of Winnipeg for first place in the West. The Stampeders have covered ATS in four of their last five games with the total going OVER in three of their last four contests. The total has stayed UNDER in 11 of their last 14 games against Hamilton. Look for another great matchup against the Lions that remains closer than the 6.5-point spread
Betting Pick: Take Hamilton +6.5 points with 5Dimes
Montreal Alouettes at Saskatchewan Roughriders
The Alouettes have won their last three games SU to improve to 6-4 overall. They are 5-5 ATS after failing to cover in four of their last five games. The total has stayed UNDER in four of Montreal’s last six games. Led by Vernon Adams Jr. at quarterback, the offense has been impressive lately in road wins against Calgary and Toronto ahead of last week’s 21-16 win at home against BC. The Alouettes’ last loss was at home to Saskatchewan on Aug. 9 in a 17-10 setback as three-point underdogs. The total closed at 48.5 points in that game.
The Roughriders are also in the thick of the West Division title race at 7-4 both SU and ATS. Their recent SU six-game winning streak came to an end last Saturday in a 35-10 loss to Winnipeg as 2.5-point road underdogs. Saskatchewan is 5-2 ATS closing as a favorite and the total has stayed UNDER in seven of its first 11 games. It has also stayed UNDER in six of its last seven games against Montreal.
Betting Pick: Take the UNDER 50 points with 5Dimes
