Calgary Stampeders vs Edmonton Eskimos
Calgary dismantled Edmonton 45-24 last week in the annual Labor Day Classic battle between these provincial rivals outgaining them by close to 200 yards. A lot of times bettors will look to back the team in revenge mode in the rematch as their betting pick but I’m not going to be one of those people. It is clear to me that Calgary is the better of these two teams on both sides of the football especially defensively and if they come prepared with the requisite focus and intensity to win this game, I expect them to do just that and beat Edmonton for the second time in as many weeks.

There have been many recent games where Calgary was potentially prone to suffer a letdown or a flat spot and all the Stampeders have continued to do is win games and cover pointspreads. Calgary QB Bo Levi Mitchell’s record as a starting QB is now a staggering 36-7-1 in his 44 starts as the QB with the Stampeders. He is a fierce competitor wanting to win every single game and I expect this one to be no different.

The Eskimos defense got absolutely shredded last week allowing 502 total yards and when comparing the stop units of these two teams, there is no comparison. Edmonton is surrendering 30 yards per game more and nearly 10 points per game more than Calgary defensively. As good as Edmonton’s offense is with QB Mike Reilly, the team has had problems stepping up in class and beating the better teams in the CFL because of their defense which has had plenty of personnel changes from last year’s Grey Cup winning team especially in the secondary which has plenty of new faces and inexperience this season. All of this is always reflected in the CFL odds, so you can analyze them and then go to the sportsbook of your choice and make your bet.

Edmonton is 1-5 ATS in 6 home games at Commonwealth Stadium and I think the price is cheap here laying less than a FG on Calgary who have proven to be the better of these teams and I’ll make the Stamps my CFL Play Of The Week for Week 12 action.
