CFL Betting - Two Team Parlay For Week 20

Winnipeg Blue Bombers players celebrating

Thursday, November 3, 2016 2:15 PM GMT

The 2016 CFL regular season comes to a close with one final round of games this weekend, and we have top betting picks before the quest to win this year’s Grey Cup title gets underway. The top six teams have already clinched a spot in the postseason and they will advance on to the playoffs starting next week with a pair of division semifinal matchups.

As far as last week’s CFL two-team parlay, I was on the wrong end in Game 1 of two home-and-home series. I am tackling both of these matchups again this week for one final regular-season parlay based on betting lines at BetOnline. All CFL season long, this has remained one of the top online sportsbooks for betting on football ‘north of the border’.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs Ottawa Redblacks

Pointspread: Pick
Total: 51

Betting Preview

The Blue Bombers came out flat in last week’s 23-10 loss to Ottawa as 5.5-point home favorites with just three points in the first half. This followed a recent five-game run in which Winnipeg went just 3-2 straight-up (4-1 against the spread) while managing to average 35.6 points a game. Matt Nichols ended last week’s game with three interceptions against just one touchdown throw, but look for a better performance this Friday from a quarterback that has thrown for 3,367 yards and 16 touchdowns this year.

Ottawa finally looked like a playoff team with last week’s win and at 8-8-1 on the year that record is good enough to clinch a second-straight East Division title. With home field locked up for the East Division Final, it makes you question just how much motivation the RedBlacks will have to pull off the home-and-home sweep in this matchup. Regardless of the motivation level, you know that veteran quarterback Henry Burris will continue to try and move the ball downfield through the air after throwing for 338 yards in last week’s win.

Betting Trends

The Blue Bombers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games and the total has gone OVER in their last five games on the road.

The RedBlacks are 1-7 ATS in their last eight home games and the total has gone OVER or ended as a PUSH in their last six games following a SU win.

With last week’s win, Ottawa is now 4-0 SU in the last four meetings with a 3-1 edge ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in the last three games after staying UNDER 53 in last week’s matchup.

Betting Prediction

The Blue Bombers looked awful last week, but I am expecting a much better showing this time around from an offense that has already proven it knows how to score points. With nothing on the line for Ottawa in this game, I am going with the road team SU, for my betting pick to even the score in this home-and-home series.

Saskatchewan Roughriders vs British Columbia Lions

Pointspread: OFF
Total: OFF

Betting Preview

The Roughriders late-season spurt in which they won four games in a row both SU and ATS while averaging 26.8 points was just a mirage following back-to-back losses (SU and ATS) to Montreal at home as 6.5-point favorites and to BC last week as five-point road underdogs in which they scored a combined 20 points. This team is officially done for the season at 5-12 SU on the year.

BC is now 11-6 SU on the year and last week’s win tightened its grip on home field advantage for next week’s West Division Semifinal. The Lions will still need to win this game to clinch that coveted spot if the Blue Bombers win their game against Ottawa earlier in the weekend. BC should be able to shut Saskatchewan down again on its home field after limiting that offense to just 256 yards of total offense in last week’s 24-6 win on the road.

Betting Trends

The Roughriders are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a SU winning record and the total has stayed UNDER in five of their last seven division games.

The Lions are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a SU losing record and the total has gone OVER in five of their last seven games against a SU losing team.

Saskatchewan is 3-8-1 ATS in its last 12 road games against its bitter division rivals and the total has stayed UNDER in 19 of the last 26 meetings in BC.

Betting Prediction

Saskatchewan appears to have finally raised the white flag on a season that was probably over before it ever began. I just cannot see the Roughriders playing all that much better on the road this week after getting pushed all over their home field last week by the highly motivated Lions. BC should get the SU win with the betting line still “off the board”. No matter how low sportsbook sets the total line for this game I would still take the UNDER given the past betting trends in this matchup.
