The 2017 CFL regular season has reached Week 6 and the balance of power in the league clearly lies in the stacked West Division, where the top three teams have a combined straight-up record of 11-2-1. All three will be a part of this week’s CFL two-team parlay pick starting with Friday night’s big division showdown.

BC Lions at Edmonton Eskimos (-3, 54)

BC will be looking to avenge a 3-point Week 1 loss to the Eskimos as a 4-point home favorite in Friday night’s second meeting this season. The Lions have now reeled off four straight-up victories in a row since that loss while going 3-1 against the spread. This offense has not missed a beat with Travis Lulay taking over for an injured Jonathon Jennings at quarterback with 86 points on the board, 840 yards passing and seven touchdowns through the air in BC’s last two games.

The Eskimos built off that big opening day upset with three more SU wins, but they have failed to cover in each of those games. The total went OVER 51.5 points in last week’s 31-28 victory on the road against Hamilton as 3.5-point favorites after staying UNDER in their first three games. Edmonton has Mike Reilly under center as its starting quarterback, and the ground game has been anchored by Travon Van with 210 rushing yards. With Reilly adding another 1,216 yards through the air, it has all added up to an average of 26.8 points per game.

The Lions have gone 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and the total has gone OVER in their last four West Division games.

The Eskimos have failed to cover ATS in nine of their last 12 home games and the total has gone OVER in five of their last six games following a SU win.

Head-to-head in this West Division tilt, Edmonton has a 4-1 edge SU in the last five meetings and BC is 4-2 ATS in the last six games between the two. The total has stayed UNDER in the last three meetings

This should be a good one from the opening kickoff right through the final gun. While I am not betting on a side in this showdown, I am betting that the total goes 'over' the current total.

Free CFL Pick: 'Over' 54

Best Line Offered: BetOnline

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3155373, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,169,238,93,300], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Calgary Stampeders (-12.5, 54.5)

It has been a rough start for the Tiger-Cats at 0-4 SU (1-3 ATS), and things are not going to get any easier Saturday night. Give Hamilton credit for keeping things close in last week’s loss to Edmonton, but this defense has now allowed an average of 35.3 PPG in its first four outings. Zach Collaros has gone the distance at quarterback, and while he has thrown for 1,041 yards he has only posted three touchdown throws in four games.

You can chalk a Week 4 loss to Montreal as a blip on the radar after Calgary rolled over Saskatchewan 27-10 last week as a 10-point favorite at home. The Stampeders are now a SU 3-1-1 with a 2-3 record ATS. Bo Levi Mitchell did not put up the biggest numbers in the world against the Roughriders with 253 yards passing and two touchdown throws, but on the year he is third in the CFL in total passing yards (1,896) and second in passing touchdowns with nine.

The Tiger-Cats have failed to cover in seven of their last eight road games and the total has gone OVER in six of their last seven games coming off a SU loss.

The Stampeders are 13-5 ATS in their last 18 games played at home and the total has gone OVER in seven of their last nine games following an ATS win.

Head-to-head in this inter-division clash, Hamilton has been able to cover in five of its last six road games against the Stampeders and the total has stayed UNDER in the last five meetings in Calgary.

I have little doubt that Calgary wins this game SU, but I do remain a bit leery about laying that many points against a team that is desperate for a win. This is another matchup that should produce more than enough points to go 'over.'

Free CFL Pick: 'Over' 54.5

Best Line Offered: Bodog

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3155403, "sportsbooksIds":[92,300,1096,1680,93], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
