Celta de Vigo Has Europa League Aspirations
A disappointing 2018-19 season force Celta de Vigo to improve their roster and while they lost Maxi Gómez, they added Denis Suárez and Santi Mina, who along with Iago Aspas give them an elite, deadly offense.
As far as recent results, they won their first three preseason games against Lugo, Lille and Unión Berlín, scoring seven goals and conceding zero but Segunda División squad Tenerife beat them 1-0 and then they lost 2-1 against Lazio. After fighting to avoid relegation last season, Celta de Vigo has to start the new season strong and playing well at home against a Real Madrid team full of doubt would be a step in the right direction.
Real Madrid Looking For Answers
Real Madrid made a significant investment this year but their fans still can’t forget their awful results from last season. Eden Hazard should be the only addition to their starting lineup and the team is interested in Neymar but it was not a productive summer for Los Blancos as many expected them to change their roster completely.
Their preseason results were not encouraging, they won just two of their seven games and the victories came against weak opponents like Fenerbahçe and FC Red Bull Salzburg. Real Madrid’s defense is a huge question mark and their 7-3 loss against Atlético de Madrid evidenced that Thibaut Courtois should not be their starting goalkeeper over Keylor Navas.
Real Madrid has won the last three meetings, 6-0, 4-2 and 2-0 and Celta de Vigo’s last La Liga victory against Real Madrid was in 2014. Real Madrid is the better team and because of their potential on offense and poor defense, I see them winning the game and conceding at least one goal on Saturday.
