We know who the soccer odds will favor this weekend in the Bundesliga, but where can we best find value with our soccer picks? Dortmund is a very talented side but Bayern Munich has been on a different level.
Bayern Munich is a clear-as-day -200 favorite wherever we look, and some soccer odds have a line as high as -225.
It's not too often you see Dortmund as an underdog in a range of +500 to +600, but that's what we find for Saturday. A draw is listed in the -350 to -400 range.
If you're wondering, Bayern hasn't lost since August 13th in any competition. Yeah, they've been pretty darn good this season, but that's something we've gotten used to seeing.
It's 14 matches unbeaten for Pep Guardiola's side. They've already built up a comfortable lead in the Bundesliga, and they're in a great spot in the Champions League too. Bayern is also rolling through the domestic cup as well, so all is well in the team's camp.
During the week, the Bavarians topped Hamburg 3-1 in the DFB Pokal, and this came away from home to make it even sweeter. Robert Lewandowski, David Alaba and Franck Ribery all got a goal in the cup win.
Advancing further in the cup is always well and good, but these showdown encounters with the "other" best team in Germany are what Bayern relish. It's always a challenge against Dortmund, and the Bavarians know they can't afford to let things slip in terms of their intensity and quality of performance.
We should know by now who to watch for Bayern, but it's hard to keep track of all of the world-class players they have. Lewandowski is one of the best pure strikers in the world, while Ribery, Thomas Muller, Arjen Robben, Mario Gotze and Xabi Alonso are considered some of the best players in their respective positions as well. Throw in arguably the best all-around goalkeeper in the world in Manuel Neuer, and you can see why this team has been so unstoppable.
There have been some obstacles along the way, but we've seen what Dortmund is capable of on their day. They're a well-coached side with a lot of quality all over the pitch.
However, we've seen two different versions of this team so far this season.
On one hand, you've got a struggling Dortmund team in the Bundesliga, one that's in 15th place in the standings. They've only mustered up seven points through nine fixtures, so you can all but count them out in the league, especially with Bayern Munich storming through the competition again.
But, then we head to Europe, and we see BVB has been tremendous in the Champions League. They've won all three of their matches in group play so far, scoring a total of nine goals and not allowing a single goal. So far Dortmund has gotten the best of Arsenal, Anderlecht and Galatasary.
It seems as if on the grandest of stages, Dortmund finds a way to show their best stuff, so that's what we expect to see this weekend against Bayern Munich.
While we do think BVB can (and likely will) cause a scare this weekend, we can't go against one of the top three teams in the world in Bayern Munich with our soccer picks.
The Bavarians haven't given us a reason to fade them, and we'd be smart to keep riding them as long as they're performing at such a high level. They've got so many ways to kill a team that it's going to take a herculean effort all over the pitch for Dortmund to get even a draw out of this match, especially since it's at Allianz Arena.
All in all, we feel it's in our best interests to roll with Bayern to notch a victory at home for our soccer pick.
