Your Humble Handicapper has won lots of money on the continent, but Mrs Richardson wants more. So your Humble Handicapper takes his money spinning ways to Germany where Augsburg take on Bayer Leverkusen.

Two wobbly sides take to the pitch midweek in the German Bundesliga, but it seems to be not so much a case of who will win, but who will lose. Augsburg have won just twice in their last five games and Leverkusen have lost four of their last five and drawn the remaining one.

Something needs to come good for someone, but the question is for whom.....

It’s a topsy-turvy run of late, for these sides as both Augsburg’s recent wins have come away from home, 2-1 against Borussia Monchengladbach on 8th March and 4-2 away to Freiburg back on February 22nd and Bayer’s only point from their last five games came away from home as well, when they managed a 1-1 with Hannover.

Recent history gives us little to go on….WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?

Looking at their last five games Bayer Leverkusen have scored in all but one of their games (a 1-0 home defeat to Mainz) but have only scored a single goal in each of them. Augsburg have scored nine goals in their last five matches, but four of them were in a 4-2 away victory over Freiburgh.

I think that the only thing that you can glean from that is that both sides will score. You can pick up best soccer odds of 4/6 on that one, while if you think I'm talking guff you can get both sides not scoring at 11/10 or indeed neither side to score at 12/1.

The basics have an Augsburg win at 6/4, a draw at 12/5 and a Bayer Leverkusen win at 9/5.

Looking at the head to head meetings between these two sides shows a clear favourite. Bayer have come out on top in four of their last five meetings. And they have outscored Augsburg 13 goals to 4. 13-4 would average out to something like 2-1 or 3-1 and those scores are available at 7/2 and 20/1 respectively.

There’s only been one clean sheet in the last five meetings between these two sides and that was back in July 2012, and it was in Augsburg’s favour (in fact it was their only win in that 5 game run).

The table tells us that Bayer is the better side, after 25 games they have 44 points but have won just two games from their last ten, (they’re six off third place Schalke, and they have three sides within three points of them snapping at their heels).

FC Augsburgh are 8th in the table on 39 points after 26 games they’re a safe 7 points ahead of 9th place Hertha and two behind 7th place Mainz.

Bayern have more to play for, but more importantly they're due a win.

Prediction: Bayer Leverkusen win 2-1 available at best soccer odds of 10/1 with Ladbrokes.
