Dortmund was opportunistic as ever in the first leg and look destined to reach the next round of the Champions League. Check out free soccer pick for Wednesday's rematch with Zenit.

Odds Overview

Another favorite tag awaits Dortmund on Wednesday, with soccer oddsmakers posting a line at roughly -300 or so for the hosts. We can lock in Zenit at an extremely high number of +900 to +950, while a draw (which would see the German squad advance) is available at just above +350.

Borussia Dortmund

Dortmund carried over momentum from the excellent showing in St. Petersburg by beating Nurnberg (3-0 at home) and SC Freiburg (1-0 away). It was exactly what Jurgen Klopp wanted to see out of his players.

However, the good times didn't last forever, as the Black and Yellows were beaten 2-1 by Borussia Monchengladbach inside Signal Iduna Park

A late Milos Jojic was nothing more than a consolation after Raffel Araujo and Max Kruse had put the visitors up comfortably in the first half. Dortmund piled on the pressure to even up the honors, especially once Havard Nordtveit was given a red card in the 69th minute, but an equalizer just wasn't on the cards for the hosts.

Despite the loss, Dortmund was able to hold on to second place in the Bundesliga, though they have Schalke and Bayer Leverkusen both breathing down their neck.

We know the Black and Yellows have no chance of winning the league this year, so there's an even bigger spotlight on the side's performance in Europe this time around. They've set themselves up nicely to move on and it would be quite amazing if they fell completely flat on their faces here.

Zenit St. Petersburg

If Zenit was hoping to build up some positive vibes ahead of this trip to Dortmund, especially after a forgettable effort in the first leg, they failed in their task.

Even though they had two weeks to rest and prepare, the Russian side still drew 0-0 at home to FK Tom'Tomsk, who are currently fourth from bottom in the standings with 12 losses in 19 domestic fixtures.

Then, six days later, Zenit lacked ideas once again in a 1-0 away loss to CSKA Moscow, a crushing defeat which saw them lose hold of the top spot in the table.

It's going to be interesting to see what level of belief caretaker boss Sergei Semak's team have for this visit of Dortmund. They have a huge mountain to climb and will be playing in front of one of the rowdiest stadiums in all of world soccer.

There's some top-class quality within the squad, starting of course with Hulk, but will the deficit be too much to overcome?

Champions League Pick

Dortmund got off to a lightning fast start in the first leg of this tie, getting early goals from Henrik Mkhitaryan and Marco Reus, before a brace from Robert Lewandowski in the second half sealed the deal.

Will the German side come out firing in the early stages of the second leg? Or will they play employ more conservative tactics to maintain their aggregate lead?

In any case, we expect Dortmund to control this affair. They may not go for four goals again, but we reckon they'll manage this occasion just fine and book their spot in the next round of Europe's top competition in the process. Take the Black and Yellows to win as one of your soccer picks.
