BIG3 Week 1 Recap: Joe Johnson Takes Over

profile

One of the bigger storylines was Joe Johnson’s debut as the captain of Triplets. Johnson, a seven-time NBA All-Star, led the team to a 50-40 win against Aliens after exploding for 27 points, 16 rebounds and four assists while making three 3-pointers.

Johnson played 17 seasons in the NBA, averaging 16.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 1276 games (1091 starts) for the Celtics, Suns, Hawks, Nets, Heat, Jazz and Rockets and many, including me, believe he should still be in the league. Iso Joe is just too good and he will make Triplets one of the teams to watch this season.

Cuttino Mobley also had a big game, he led the defending champion Power to an easy 50-38 win against 3’s Company and his 28 points were the highest among all BIG3 players this week.

Here are other performances worth mentioning:

Amar’e Stoudemire: 26 points and 10 rebounds for Tri State

Reggie Evans: 22 points and 23 rebounds for 3-Headed Monsters
