WTA Sydney – The Future of American Tennis

At the age of 18, Catherine Bellis is already one of the best players in the world. The American teenager shocked the world with her victory over Dominika Cibulkova at the US Open 2014 when she was only 15 years old. Adding to this, the former junior world no.1 won 66.67% of the matches played throughout 2017 against top 10 opponents.

Despite her disappointing defeat in Brisbane against Karolina Pliskova by 1 – 6 1 – 6, Bellis secured a place in the Sydney International after three good victories in the qualifying. The American teenager returns to court Monday for a first ever meeting against Magdalena Rybarikova. Regardless of Rybarikova’s higher experience and terrific results in 2017, it won’t be easy for the Slovak to perform at her best in the first match of the season. On the other hand, Bellis already played three matches in Sydney. With this in mind, the value is definitely on Catherine’s side and our advice is for you to place a bet on the American rising star.

WTA Hobart – Player to Keep an Eye

Katerina Siniakova couldn’t have asked for more on her 2018 debut. Besides reaching the Shenzhen Open Final in singles and doubles, the 21-year-old secured one of her best career victories in the semifinals against Maria Sharapova. Taking a look now at Siniakova’s numbers in Shenzhen, the highlight definitely goes to her return to serve with the Czech winning 46.90% of the games played on her opponents’ serve.

Due to her long week in Shenzhen, Siniakova is only scheduled to play her first round match in Hobart against Alison Riske on Tuesday. Despite Riske’s unquestionable quality, Katerina is far from an easy match-up for the American with Siniakova winning all their previous two official encounters on the WTA Tour. Adding to this, the windy conditions in Hobart should benefit the Czech on this match. Having said that, our suggestion is for you to add Siniakova to your betting picks to secure a place in the following round.

WTA Sydney – Former Runner-Up

Dominika Cibulkova kicks off her 2018 season at the Sydney International. The 28-year-old is determined to return to the top after a disappointing 2017. Cibulkova found it impossible to live up to the high standards she set herself in 2016, when she won the WTA Finals Singapore. In addition to her poor 54.35% winning record in 2017, the former world no.5 ended the year outside the top 25. Despite Dominika’s lack of success in recent months, playing in Australia brings great memories to the Slovak. Besides reaching the championship match at the 2013 Sydney International, Cibulkova is also a former Australian Open runner-up.

Taking a look now at Dominka’s draw on this event, the player from Bratislava starts her campaign against Anastasia Sevastova. Due to Anastasia’s successful campaign in Brisbane and outstanding results in 2017, it’s not surprising to see the no.8 seed as the favorite to win this match. Nevertheless, it won’t be easy for Sevastova to find the answer to Cibulkova’s powerful and aggressive style of play. For that reason, it’s impossible to ignore the tremendous value on Cibulkova’s tennis betting odds to win this match.
