To date, these two have split a pair of games with Portland winning (108-87) on this floor, while Dallas won (111-101) in big D. Each of these teams is currently secured in the Western Conference playoffs, while they continue to battle for a playoff spot that is 4th or higher. Let’s take a look at the current state of affairs of each of these teams, as well as their recent form as indicators of success in this game.

Key to the Mavericks’ success in this contest will be the availability of big men, Chandler Parsons (ankle) and Tyson Chandler (hip). This pair of big men averages a combined 26/17. They are questionable for tonight’s contest after missing the Mavs’ 102-93 victory vs. New Orleans. That victory against a wounded New Orleans team came after Dallas had broken from the All-Star gate at just 3-3 SU ATS. This included losses in their previous 2 road games by scores of 104-87 in Atlanta and 104-89 at OKC. Those defeats dropped Dallas to 4-9 ATS as road dog this season, a role in which they normally prosper. The addition of PG Rondo, via trade from Boston, was aimed at increasing the Mavs’ playoff hopes. But, a contentious relationship between Rondo and HC Carlisle has already resulted in a 1 game suspension for the mercurial point guard. In short, this is a Dallas Mavericks team that is not to be trusted tonight.

Click Here for Another Capper's Take on Tonight's Mavericks/Blazers

Though Portland comes off a game at the LA Clippers last night, the Blazers have been playing far better ball since their mediocre performance in February. Most notable has been the Portland performance on their home court, where they have gone 6-1SU of late, including victories against OKC and San Antonio in their 2 previous outings. PG Lillard is beginning to regain his all-star form, knocking down a combined 60 points in wins vs. Sacramento and OKC in the last week. Interior force, Aldrich, continues to play well despite the thumb injury.

The NBA is a league of current form. Right now, the Mavs are in the doldrums as they look to integrate Rondo and get Parsons and Chandler at full speed. Conversely, Portland has made an uptick from their doldrums and is now in command of 4thposition in the Western playoff queue. As long as Aldrich and Lillard remain healthy, Portland will extend their home mark for the season to 26-6 SU at the expense of Dallas, so back them with your NBA picks.

NBA Pick: Portland Trailblazers -2 at 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":339057, "sportsbooksIds":[19,43,227,1096,999996,93,238,123,139], "LineTypeId":5, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
