All the big European leagues are back in action this weekend after a two-week international break, and there are hundreds of betting options for soccer fans. A lot of the biggest teams can look forward to relatively easy matches against weak opposition this weekend, leading to low odds on them, so you have to dig a little deeper to find value, but there is plenty to be had.
Spain - La Liga
That is certainly the case in Spain, where champions Barcelona are -1000 at Pinnacle to beat newly promoted Alaves at home, while European champions Real Madrid are -1500 at Pinnacle to beat another newly promoted team, Osasuna. If you want more value on those matches, consider giving Real Madrid a -2 handicap and getting odds of -175. Real Sociedad beat Osasuna 2-0 at home, so Real Madrid should be able to go at least one better than that. Another interesting bet is Barcelona to win and under 3.5 goals, which gets you +140. Alaves has conceded just one goal in two games so far this season, so that looks a pretty good bet.
But if you’re looking for a straight win, lose or draw bets for a parlay, you have to look elsewhere. The other powerhouse of Spanish football, Atletico Madrid, has struggled so far this season, drawing both games, but they have an away game against struggling Celta Vigo and can kickstart their season with a win. Celta Vigo finished sixth last year but lost star man Nolito in the summer and has lost both matches so far this season, and Atletico can capitalise on low confidence among their ranks. They are -128 to win this with Pinnacle. Las Palmas are level with Barca and Real at the top of La Liga with two wins in two but they will struggle away at Sevilla, who finished fifth last season and won the Europa League. Sevilla looks a good bet at -185 at WagerWeb. Real Sociedad at +100 to beat Espanyol at home looks another good bet as Espanyol’s form has been poor.
Italy - Serie A
Over in Italy, champions Juventus play Sassuolo and are just -280 at Bodog to win but that would bulk out your parlay a bit. They have won two out of two and are a far superior side, so they should win that won comfortably. Sampdoria has started well but will struggle away at Roma, who are second favorites to win Serie A and are in great form. Roma is -250 so if you want more value to go for a Roma win and over 2.5 goals as Roma are in great goalscoring form, having recently put four past Udinese and three past Porto in the Champions League. Inter has got off to a dreadful start, with just one point from two games, but they have a great opportunity to get their season back on track with an away game at relegation-tipped Pescara (-121 at 5Dimes). Empoli and Crotone are the only teams with no points so far, and they play each other at Empoli this weekend. Empoli finished mid-table last year, while Crotone is outright favorites to be relegated, so Empoli really should win this one (-166).
Germany - Bundesliga
In Germany champions, Bayern Munich is -329 at Pinnacle to beat Schalke away from home and that looks another good one to bulk out a parlay/accumulator. Bayern has started the season in imperious form under new manager Carlo Ancelotti, and battered Werder Bremen 6-0 in their opening game, with a hat-trick for Robert Lewandowski. If you want more value give Bayern a -1 handicap or go Bayern and over 2.5 goals, as this gets you -125. Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen, third favorites for the Bundesliga, are aiming to register their first win of the season after losing the opener away at fourth favorites Monchengladbach. They host Hamburg, who finished seven places below them last season. Bayer Leverkusen beat them 1-0 at home last season despite having a man sent off, while the reverse fixture ended in a 0-0 draw. Bayer is the better team and really should be winning this, and the -212 at 5Dimes looks a pretty tempting addition to a parlay. If you want more value, go for Bayer and under 2.5 goals, which is +320. Neither are high scoring teams and each scored just once in their opening game, while the two fixtures between them last season saw only one goal, so that looks a good soccer pick. Monchengladbach travel to Freiburg and should prevail there (+105) as they are in fantastic form. Elsewhere Borussia Dortmund travels to nouveau riche RB Leipzig, bankrolled by the Red Bull soft drinks empire and far more ambitious than most newly promoted teams. Leipzig got a 2-2 draw against Hoffenheim in their opening game and will certainly be a handful after splashing the cash in the summer, but Dortmund should scrape through this with a narrow win (-148 at Pinnacle).
England - Premier League
In England the big Premiership match this weekend is the Manchester derby, but that looks a good one to avoid as we haven’t yet seen enough of Utd and City under new managers Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola know how they will fare and how well all their new players will bed in. Elsewhere Arsenal host Southampton and it will be a very tough game for the Gunners as Southampton have emerged as a real bogey team for them. They drew 1-1 last time they met, but earlier in the season Southampton battered them 4-0 and beat them 2-0 in the game before that. Arsenal appears to have finally found form, however, with Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla now back and pulling the strings in the middle of the park and new signings Granit Xhaka and Shkodran Mustafi ready to add steel to the side. Southampton has a new manager and have lost a number of key players, and have started the season shakily, so Arsenal can capitalise, rip up the form and win this one (-163 at Pinnacle). West Ham has lost their last two games in a row and Watford has lost all three games this season, so confidence will be low when these two meet, but West Ham is the better side and should prevail (-110 at Heritage).
A good 11-team parlay looks to be Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Real Sociedad, Juventus, Roma, Inter, Empoli, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and West Ham. One or two might let you down, but you could always do a combination of nine-fold and 10-fold parlays and the 11-fold, or just leave out the riskier ones, which look to be Dortmund, Arsenal and West Ham.
