Soccer fans can look forward to a host of exciting matches across all of Europe’s top leagues this weekend, with all the elite teams in action. Below we round up the biggest matches taking place in each league, analyse the likely outcomes and explore some of the ways to get some value out of them.
Real Madrid’s epic winning run was abruptly ended by Villareal last time out, ruining many a parlay bet, but they held onto top spot and are three points ahead of fierce rivals Barcelona after five games. Their next match sees them travel to Las Palmas and they should get back to winning ways. They beat Las Palmas 3-1 and 2-1 last year, despite having a man sent off in the latter, and they are a far better team. The odds of -256 at 5Dimes on Real aren’t too bad, but to get more value you could go for Real and over 2.5 goals, which is -125. Each of the last four meetings between these two sides has seen more than 2.5 goals, and Real have won the last three, so you would think that’s a pretty safe bet. Barcelona also faces an away game as they head to Sporting Gijon, who are struggling after losing 5-0 to Atletico and 2-1 to Celta Vigo in their last two games, and Barca will expect to win comfortably after beating them 6-0 last time they met. Barcelona is just -333 at BetCris to win it, so you can get more value by giving them -1.75 Asian handicaps and get odds of +110. In their last three meetings, Barcelona has beaten Sporting by at least two goals and will relish the opportunity to run at their limited defence. Atletico hosts struggling Deportivo after holding Barcelona to a 1-1 draw in their last game, and they will be expecting a big victory here. Last season Atletico was all about grinding out narrow victories based on a solid defence, but this season they have been scoring for fun, having recently beaten Celta Vigo 4-0 and Sporting 5-0. To get value out of this game you could go for Atletico and over 2.5 goals (-105) or Atletico to win to nil (-120). Sevilla is currently second thanks to a stupendous home record but they don’t travel well and face a tough trip to Athletic Bilbao, where a draw looks a likely outcome (+230 at BetOnline).
Man City has started the season in sensational form, winning eight out of eight, and should keep that going against Swansea this weekend. If the -250 on offer doesn’t excite you, you might want to go Man City half-time/full-time (+110), or give Swansea a -1 handicap (also +110). In-form Everton is +120 to beat Bournemouth away and that looks a great bet as they going into the match on a strong winning run, while Bournemouth was thrashed by City last time out. West Brom travel to bottom club Stoke and manager Tony Pulis knows his old side well, so he will be confident of getting a result and the +120 on WBA draw no bet looks good. Crystal Palace travels to struggling Sunderland on a winning run and can extend that at the Stadium of Light (+150). Liverpool and Tottenham should pick up comfortable wins against Hill and Middlesbrough respectively, while Watford is in great form and can beat Burnley away (+163 at Bet365).
Juventus shocked everyone last week by succumbing to their first defeat of the season away at Inter. They will seek to bounce back to winning ways against Palermo and should manage it, having beaten the Sicilian side in all of their last eight encounters. If the -333 doesn’t appeal, back Juventus to win to nil at -108 as all of those eight wins were to nil. Inter are now on a roll and can keep it up against Bologna (-214 at BetDSI). Possibly the most intriguing game of the weekend sees Fiorentina hosts AC Milan. Fiorentina is inconsistent and followed up an excellent win over high-flying Roma with a draw against Udinese – a game they would have expected to win. AC Milan is another inconsistent side: after they lost to Udinese they secured great victories over Sampdoria and Lazio. They have a pretty even head to head record against one another in recent years. But Fiorentina has won the last two times they have played AC Milan at home and they look good to do so again at +130. An alternative bet is going for Carlos Bacca to score at any time (+188). The Colombian has scored in each of his last two games and is in red hot form at the moment.
Bayern Munich is absolutely cruising in the Bundesliga, with four wins out of four, 14 goals scored and just one conceded. They should beat Hamburg comfortably (-180) but if you don’t fancy those odds go for Bayern and over 2.5 goals at -133 or give them a -2 handicap (+188). Borussia Dortmund plays Freiburg, a team they have beaten in their last 10 encounters, and another easy win is expected here. To get more value, you might want to give them a -1.75 handicap to get -170 at Bookmaker. Mainz hosts Bayer Leverkusen and these are another two sides with a very even recent head to head record. Mainz will be confident of getting a result and the +115 on Mainz draw no bet looks interesting. RB Leipzig is an interesting team as they are spending lots of money and getting results against the big teams, having beaten Dortmund and drawn with Borussia Monchengladbach. They face a really tough game away to another surprise package this season, second-placed and unbeaten Cologne, but they have a great chance of beating them (+225).
