Before UFC Phoenix on Sunday, Bellator has a terrific Saturday night grudge match and it’s going to end in a knockout.

Michael Page vs Paul DaleySaturday, February 16, 7 p.m. (Prelims), 10 p.m. (Main Event)Free Bellator Pick: Daley MLBest Line Offered: 5 Dimes

UFC Phoenix is oddly on a Sunday this week and the reason is because the #2 MMA promotion in the world, Bellator, has a stacked card on Saturday night! UFC veterans Cheick Congo, Roy Nelso, Mirko Crocop, and Paul “Semtex” Daley are all fighting legit competition and I think I have spotted some line value.

The fight between Paul Daley and MVP has been in the works for years. Michael Venom Page is Bellator’s first true star that they crafted and cultivated from a green young fighter. He wasn't from the UFC like many of their current big names and he has been led slowly along so that he was given plenty of time to develop as a fighter along the way. Venom has all the physical attribute advantages in this this fight with his height and reach, but even though he is 13-0 he lacks the experience of his opponent Daley. Onely 1 of MVPs last 3 opponents was relevant or legitimate.

Paul Daley fought in the UFC back in 2010 and was taking heads off until he was outwrestled by a prime Josh Koscheck who basically put the book out on how to beat him. Paul is a phenomenal striker with KO power in both hands. He is a smaller fighter for the weight class but I actually believe that is an advantage as he doesnt have weight cut or cardio issues and still carries his natural power enough to KO opponents, even in the later rounds. Paul has an insane level of experience with 40 wins and 16 losses with an astounding 75% knock out rate! 30 of Paul's 40 wins have come by KO.

The only fighters who Paul seems to struggle with are very strong wrestlers who can control him on the ground and nullify his hands. While he has gone 2-3 in his last 5 he was facing the absolute best that Bellator has to offer. His 3 losses were to Douglas Lima, Jon Fitch, and current champion Rory MacDonald. Jon was basically kicked out of the UFC due to being a boring fighter who did nothing but wrestle and that’s exactly what he did against Semtex. Rory is an incredibly talented fighter who is very smart about facing his opponents as well and he submitted Daley after controlling him on the ground. Lima also used a wrestling heavy strategy and won a decision over Daley in 2016.

MVP has shown that he is a striker himself and has some flashy KOs that makes him a draw, but I think he might be a false favorite here. He will not have the wrestling credentials to handle Daley and if you strike with Semtex you are playing with fire. I think this line should be closer or have Paul Daley as the slight favorite. MVP has next to no legitimate competition on his resume since Bellator wanted to have him grow slowly. Well now he is 31 years old. He is no longer a bright young star that needs protecting. This is his first big step up in competition and it is a much bigger step than people realize. I have Paul Daley by round 2 knockout.
