AS Monaco welcomes Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday for Leg 2 of their Champions League series. With oddsmakers making the German side the favorites after the 3-2 Monaco win in Leg 1, is looking to the totals market the best place for a winning pick here?

Odds Preview

AS Monaco vs. Borussia Dortmund (FS2, 2:45 p.m. ET): France Ligue 1 leaders (on GD over PSG) AS Monaco host German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in this UCL Quarterfinals Leg 2 at Stade Louis II in Fontvieille, Monaco on Wednesday. Because of the Leg 1 scoreline, Oddsmakers have Dortmund +124 favorites over Monaco (+201) with a Draw +315 (BetMania) with the Total in 3½ (Over -112, Skybook). The wild first leg at Westfalenstadion in Germany last week -- in a match moved a day due to a bombing to the Dortmund bus -- saw Monaco hold on for a 3-2 win.

Borussia Dortmund

Manager Thomas Tuchel and Dortmund (+220 to Qualify, Intertops) had to deal with the unfortunate reality of last week’s news, and it surely had an effect on the hosts as they looked off with the match being moved a day to Wednesday and seeing D Marc Bartra being injured from the blast and having to have surgery on his wrist and shrapnel removed from his forearm, leaving him out for a month. And Mario Götze (illness) and André Schürrle (Achilles’) are both also out, but Marco Reus should be in Starting XI as BvB looks for a couple Road goals and a lifeline to the Semifinals. With Reus, Ousmane Dembélé, young American Christian Pulisic, Shinji Kagawa and the electric Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Dortmund has the attacking talent and will create a frenzied game pace with Tuchel saying, “We will attack from the first minute until the 90th.”

AS Monaco FC

Manager Leonardo Jardim saw 18-year-old Kylian Mbappe score twice in Leg 1 as upstart Monaco (-333 To Qualify, Intertops) look to make its first UCL Semifinals since 2004. MF Tiemoué Bakayoko returns from Suspension and Benjamin Mendy is back, but Fabinho misses from card accumulation and MF Gabriel Boschilia (Ankle) is also out. ASM has more goals than anyone in Europe thanks to a rejuvenated 31-year-old Radamel Falcao and teen Mbappe, but the French side has allowed 15 goals in UCL play -- the most of any club remaining in the UCL.

Monaco Weather, Expectations, Picks

The TWC forecast for the Fontvieille district of Monaco on Wednesday night calls Partly Cloudy skies, a Low of 42° F with mild 5-10 mph Winds, so, a little chilly for April, but both teams are used to it. All five clubs who have won 3-2 on the Road in Leg 1 have advanced, and with Dortmund struggling in the Knockout Phase (3-0-8 L11) of the UCL and so desperate, taking the 'Over' (3.5o -200, 5Dimes) as well as finding a way to back host Monaco getting a goal and paying the price (ASM +1 -167, Intertops) seem like the two best picks here.
