We’ve selected two favorites as our Australian Open Top Tennis Picks for Day 2. Find out who they are and also the best sportsbook for you to place your plays.

Gilles Muller vs. Fabio Fognini (20)
Fabio Fognini is known as one of the most charismatic players on tour, but also for being involved in several controversies throughout his career. Despite being able to produce an outstanding level of tennis, he’s very often surprised by lower ranked players. Last year’s performance at Australian Open is a good example of that, with Fabio losing to the world no. 107, Alejandro Gonzalez. Fognini’s best performance in Melbourne was achieved in 2014, when he reached the 4th round; however, he only won one match in his other seven appearances.

After reaching the 4th round last year, Gilles Muller will be looking for another good campaign in Melbourne. Gilles is a fearful opponent, with his big serve and great skills around the net. As it happened last year, Muller reached semifinals at Sydney before this event, winning 91.9% of service games during that competition.

This will be the first career meeting between these two players.

Fabio struggles to keep a consistent game level during his matches and his irregularity is usually fatal against big servers like Muller. As we already mentioned, Fognini’s results on this event are extremely poor, with the Italian showing a terrible mindset. The player from Luxembourg should be just too solid on serve, while Fabio won’t find the required consistency to overcome this opponent. With this in mind, we’ll add Muller to our tennis picks.

Bethanie Mattek-Sands vs. Denisa Allertova
Due to an excellent season planning, Denisa Allertova ended 2015 very close from breaking into the top 50. The Czech chooses to play in tournaments with easier draws and also some high level ITF events. Despite having solid and strong groundstrokes, Allertova game is too unidimensional and is not easy for her to control all that firepower. Denisa started her season at Hobart, losing on the first round against Alize Cornet in a match where the French was just too solid for her.

Bethanie Mattek-Sands is, without doubts, the most exuberant player on tour due to her different hair colors and weird outfits. It wasn’t a good start of season for Mattek-Sands, losing the two previous matches, but the American is known for performing at her best on big stages. 2015 was a great year for Bethanie, reaching the third round in all Grand Slams – with the exception of Roland Garros – and also winning the Australian Open and Roland Garros in doubles.

They’ll face each other for the first time and everything could be different if they were playing at a lower level event. However, Mattek-Sands loves this big events and seems to find the proper motivation to perform at her best. Bethanie can mix things very well with her serve & volley skills and she should be just too good for Allertova. As we said, if this was on a lower level tournament the Czech could win, but on a Grand Slam there is clear value on Mattek-Sands tennis odds.
