Andreas Seppi vs. Alexandr Dolgopolov (27)
Andreas Seppi always struggled to perform at his best level on North-America, with a career 49.26% winning record while his overall record is 53.77%. Looking at Andrea’s numbers on this Miami event, the Italian only won 6 of the previous 17 matches he played on the Miami Open main draw. Seppi experienced no problems on his first round match against a very erratic Donald Young, dismissing the American by 6 – 3 6 – 1 in just 62 minutes.

In contrast to Seppi, Alexandr Dolgopolov loves to compete on North-America, especially on the three Masters 1000 events that take place in the United States – Indian Wells, Miami and Cincinnati. Looking at Dolgopolov’s stats since 2014 on those three events, the Ukrainian won 16 of the 22 matches he played, defeating big players such as Rafael Nadal, Milos Raonic, Stan Wawrina or Tomas Berdych. This is Alexandr’s 6th career appearance on this Miami Open, with the world no.29 always winning on his debut.

These two players will face each other for the fifth time on their career, with Dolgopolov leading the h2h by 4 – 0.

Dolgopolov is known for his inconsistency, especially because of his disease – Gilbert’s Syndrome – which affects his physical condition and gets worst when the Ukrainian has to make long travels. However, Alexandr already proved that he feels extremely comfortable on this game conditions and after an early loss in Indian Wells, he had more than time to travel and adjust to the conditions in Miami. There isn’t much Seppi can do on baseline rallies against Dolgopolov and the Ukrainian should increase his winning record over Seppi to 5 – 0. With this in mind, we suggest adding Dogopolov’s spread to your tennis picks for this match.

Ekaterina Makarova (30) vs. Petra Kvitova (8)
It hasn’t been an easy start of season for Petra Kvitova, with a 6 – 7 record in 2016 so far. Petra suffers from asthma and is extremely tough for her to play in humid conditions like the ones in Miami. Despite winning her first match on this event against Irina Falconi in straight sets, Kvitova had some problems to keep a consistent level on the second set, yet Falconi is a lower level player and couldn’t do much against the Czech.

Ekaterina Makarova is looking to regain some confidence, after losing five of the last six matches she played before this event. Ekaterina is known for her outstanding counter punching skills, turning defense into offense with great ease. Makarova had to fight hard on her debut against Lesia Tsurenko, recovering from a set and a break down before overcoming the Ukrainian by 3 – 6 6 – 4 6 – 3. Makarova loves to play on the big stages against the top players, with 17 victories already throughout her career against top 10 players.

This will be the 7th career meeting between this pair, with Kvitova leading on h2h by 4 – 2.

It should be a great match between two left-handed players with very different game styles. Kvitova likes to hit the ball very strong with her groundstrokes while Makarova loves to hit the ball very early and take advantage of her opponents’ firepower to counter attack. As we already mentioned, Petra struggles to perform at a consistent level on this conditions and this should be a very close contest. Having said that, we believe this match might be decided on a third set and for that reason, we recommend taking advantage of the Over tennis odds by placing a bet on it.
