Join us and find out our two top betting selections for the ATP & WTA Madrid Day 8. We'll provide a detailed analysis, explaining why you should grab these two valuable tennis picks.

Rafael Nadal (5) vs Andy Murray (2)
It was far from an easy match for Rafael Nadal at the quarterfinals, with João Sousa forcing Nadal to a third set but at the end, the Spaniard’s consistency and higher experience were determinant in his success. On the previous round, Nadal also experienced some problems against Sam Querrey but the American couldn’t take advantage of a 4 – 1 lead on the 1st set. When looking at Rafael’s level this week, the Spaniard hasn’t been as impressive as he was in the two tournaments he won in Monte Carlo and Barcelona.

We picked Andy Murray in our ATP & WTA Madrid Day 7 article and the world no.2 matched the expectations, dismissing Tomas Berdych by 6 – 3 6 – 2. Murray loves the conditions in Madrid and he’s looking to claim his second consecutive title in the Spanish capital. One of the keys for Andy’s success on this surface is his ability to mix things up, combining an aggressive baseline game with tricky slices and delightful drop shots.

This will be the 24th career meeting between these two players, with Nadal leading on h2h by 17 – 6.

If we look at their previous record on clay Nadal’s dominance is even higher, with the Spaniard winning 7 out of 8 matches; however, Murray is a completely different player on clay since 2015. Last year they faced each other on the final of this event, with Andy crushing Nadal by 6 – 3 6 – 2 and just a few weeks ago in Monte Carlo, Nadal had to recover from a set down to defeat the British. With Murray at such good level and Nadal far from his best this week, there is clear value on Andy’s tennis odds and for that reason, our suggestion is for you to place a on him.

Dominika Cibulkova vs Simona Halep (6)
After almost three years, Dominika Cibulkova returns to a WTA Premier final with her previous appearance in Stanford 2013. Cibulkova was absolutely brilliant on her semifinals match against Louisa Chirico, defeating the American qualifier by 6 – 1 6 – 1. Dominika’s performance was close from perfection, dominating the rallies with her forehand and ending the match with impressive numbers: 24 winners / 8 unforced errors.

It has been a brilliant week for Simona Halep, losing only one set in her path into this final. This is Simona’s second career appearance on this WTA Madrid final, losing the one she played in 2014 against Maria Sharapova. After struggling to find her best tennis in the first months of the year, Halep is finally showing all her quality. When Halep is confident on her game she can be an extremely dangerous player with terrific counter punching and shot making skills.

These two players will face each other for the 5th time on their careers, with Cibulkova leading on h2h by 3 – 1. However, those matches were played between 2011 and 2014, when Halep was still far from the player she is today.

Both reach this final after superb performances in the previous round and a high quality match is expected this Saturday. As usual, Cibulkova will try to dictate the points with her forehand yet, she’ll face a tremendous counter puncher with extreme depth on her shots. Halep should be too good from the baseline and this is a great opportunity for the Romanian to win her first title in 2016. With this in mind, we recommend you to add Halep’s spread to your tennis picks.
