Join us and find out our two top betting selections for the ATP & WTA Indian Wells Day 5. We'll provide a detailed analysis, explaining why you should grab these two valuable tennis picks.

Jelena Jankovic (19) vs. Coco Vandeweghe
After a slow start of season, Jelena Jankovic is looking to regain some confidence on one of her favorite tournaments. The 2010 Indian Wells champion and last year runner-up loves the game conditions in the Californian desert and she started this year’s campaign with an impressive victory over Carina Witthoeft. Sometimes Jelena struggles to perform at her best on secondary courts against lower ranked players, but this time she was rock solid with a 6 – 1 6 – 3 triumph.

It hasn’t also been the best start of season for Coco Vandeweghe, the American finished 2015 with an ankle injury that affected her pre-season. After losing all the three matches she played on Australian soil, Coco started to find her best tennis with good performances in Dubai and Doha. Vandeweghe is known for her tremendous serve and this week she has been outstanding on her two previous matches against Kiki Bertens and Svetlana Kuznetsova, winning all the 19 service games she played so far.

This will be the seventh career meeting between these two players, with each of them winning three of the previous six matches. The last one was played this year at Sydney where Jelena emerged victorious by 6 – 3 6 – 4.

Jankovic’s defensive quality and counter punching skills will be crucial on this match. Coco has been serving at great level but this time she’ll face a terrific returner. The former world no.1 should use her groundstrokes to open the court and explore Coco’s weaker baseline movement, especially her famous two-handed backhand. With this in mind, we suggest adding Jankovic to your tennis picks as the best play on this match.

Rafael Nadal (4) vs. Gilles Muller
The high bouncing conditions in Indian Wells suit perfectly Rafael Nadal’s game, with the Spaniard always founding tremendous success on this event. Nadal already won three titles in Indian wells with a 44 – 8 career record on this competition. After a disappointing first round loss at the Australian Open against Fernando Verdasco, Nadal will be looking for a better performance on his return to Hard Courts.

Known as one of the biggest servers on tour, Gilles Muller started his campaign in Indian Wells with a good performance on serve against Victor Estrella Burgos. The Luxembourger finished the match with great numbers on serve – 15 aces, 68% first serve in and 90% first serve points won. This is Gilles’ seventh career appearance on this event with his best result achieved in 2005 when he reached the 3rd round.

This two players have faced five times in the past, with Nadal leading the h2h by 4 – 1; however, their last encounter took place in 2011 and since then Muller has improved the level of his game.

Nadal keeps struggling to perform at his best level, with too many unforced errors and lack of depth on his forehand. Muller is always a tough player to face and with nothing to lose on this match, he should be even more dangerous. Nadal has a good career record against big servers, with his defensive skills being the key for those results, but with if Muller keeps placing such high % on serve it will be very hard for the Spaniard to break him. Adding to this, Rafael hasn’t been very reliable on serve and he should also give some chances for Muller to break him. Having said that, this should be a very close contest and for that reason, we advise taking advantage of it by placing a bet on the Over tennis odds.
