The decisive match from the Men’s singles competition takes place this Sunday with the two top seeds facing each other. Join us to find out who has more chances to lift the trophy.

We reach the decisive match of the US Open with the two top seeds facing each other. Both arrive to this final without facing many problems and after impressive performances at semifinals.

Novak Djokovic (1) vs Roger Federer (2)
Roger Federer has been impressive not losing a single set since Cincinnati and the New York crowd will be on his side on this final like it happened in Wimbledon’s final with a massive support from the fans, however that might not be enough.

The Suisse knows that he has to keep playing aggressive and going to the net whenever he can otherwise he will be overplayed on the baseline. Federer defeated an uninspired Stan Wawrinka in semi-finals who was able to produce a high level tennis on first set and forced Federer to come more to the net in order to regain some advantage. Federer advanced to the net 28 times in his match against Wawrinka and 14 of those were in first set where Stan was clearly playing his best, on other two sets Wawrinka wasn’t able to keep the level and Federer could stay more on the baseline.

Novak Djokovic lost a set in his meetings against Roberto Bautista Agut and Feliciano Lopez but raised the level in semi-final with a remarkable performance destroying the defending champion, Marin Cilic, 6 – 0 6 – 1 6 – 2.

Novak will be looking to avoid a third straight loss in US Open finals where he was only able to win 1 of previous 5 finals. The Serbian has the best defensive game and also has one of the best returns in history and that has been a major weapon for him against Federer in their meetings. Despite serving at an average of 120 mph Cilic was only able to win 60% of points with first serve and his second serve was heavily punished with Djokovic winning 78% on Cilic second serve.

This will be the 42nd meeting with Federer leading 21 – 20 and the Suisse will look to repeat the recent success in Cincinnati where he defeated Djokovic 7 – 6 6 – 3. Was a match where Roger was extremely solid not facing a single break point however the conditions there are much faster which benefits Federer offensive game and also Djokovic was not at his best struggling with some physical problems.

Despite the outstanding level that Federer has presented, Djokovic clearly deserves to be the favorite for couple of reasons: 1) Djokovic won two straight Grand Slam finals against Federer on grass that is Roger’s best surface; 2) Djokovic is the best defender and returner which allows him to create many problems to Federer offensive game; 3) Djokovic loves to play best of 5 sets, he can take the match to a physical level where clearly has the advantage of anyone.

We agree that Djokovic should be favorite but the tennis odds seem to be extremely fair at the time and is very hard to find some value for our tennis picks. Djokovic should be the one to emerge victorious in a very tough and close battle but our advice is to wait for live where at some point Novak should be above the current price of -123.
