David Goffin vs John Isner (13)
David Goffin is experiencing a wonderful stage in his career, not only reached his best career ranking in July but also helped Belgium team achieving Davis Cup final.

Goffin plays at a very high pace with tremendous shot making skills, which makes him a tough opponent to face. The weakest part on David game is his serve, he’s far from a tall player and due to that his first serve % are quite low. This season the Belgian is only averaging 54.6% first serve in and only won 51.5% of points with second serve.

It was a very strong start from John Isner in Shanghai, dismissing Adrian Mannarino 6 – 1 6 – 2. The American ended the match with unbelievable numbers on serve, 85% first serve and averaging 2.5 aces per service game. Isner kick serve is his biggest weapon and against shorter players is extremely effective.

The two previous matches were played in 2012 with Isner winning in Winston-Salem and Goffin in Valencia.

The courts in Shanghai are quite fast which makes Isner serve even harder to return. If they were playing in slower conditions Goffin would have more chances, like it happened in Valencia, however the courts are faster here. The Belgian is a great returner against fast services, however Isner kick serve bounces extremely high and is hard for a shorter player to handle it.

Goffin is also unreliable on his serve, as we mentioned before, and John will have some chances to break the Belgian. The American was very impressive in first round and when he’s serving at such high level is almost impossible to break him.

The tennis odds on Isner are quite interesting and we’ll add him to our tennis picks as the top play of the day.

Tennis Pick: John Isner ML (-125) at Pinnacle.
