Rafael Nadal (1) vs. Alexandr Dolgopolov
It hasn’t been an easy week for the 2014 ATP Rio Open runner-up, Alexandr Dolgopolov, but the Ukrainian managed to recover from a set down in his two previous contests against Thomaz Bellucci and Inigo Cervantes. Alexandr is known for his enormous talent, with his tricky slices as one of his biggest weapons. Dolgopolov is also able to generate tremendous pace with his shots, mixing extremely well the rhythm of the rallies. Despite Dolgopolov’s natural talent for the game, the Ukrainian is also famous for his inconsistency and for suffering from Gilbert’s Syndrome, which affects his performances, especially when he has to cross continents in extensive travels.

After a surprising loss at ATP Buenos Aires quarterfinals against Dominic Thiem, Rafael Nadal is looking to claim his 68th career title. It has been a positive start of competition for Nadal, defeating his fellow countrymen Pablo Carreno Busta and Nicolas Almagro, both in straight sets. Despite not losing a single set so far, the Spaniard keeps struggling to perform at a consistent level and unable to produce his best tennis under pressure. Over the last months, Nadal hasn’t been as strong as he used to be on pressure situations and we witnessed another example of that in his previous match against Almagro, with Rafael losing his serve when serving for the match.

This will be the 8th career meeting between these two players and although Nadal’s 5 – 2 lead on h2h, it was Dolgopolov who won the previous two encounters between them.

The Ukrainian loves to play against the top players, with the underdog status allowing him to produce his best tennis. This should be a very interesting contest and much closer than the odds suggest. Alexandr has the game to bother Nadal and after winning the last two matches against the Spaniard, Dolgopolov knows he can do it again. Having said that, our suggestion for this match is to add the Over tennis odds value to your tennis picks.
