Richard Gasquet (1) vs. Dustin Brown (q)
Despite playing his first tournament in 2016, the 1st seed and defending champion, Richard Gasquet, is already into the semifinals. As we mentioned in our tournament preview, Gasquet played against two very dangerous players – Ernest Gulbis and Marcos Baghdatis – however, he managed to overcome those challenges with solid performances. Richard played extremely well under pressure, saving 5 of 6 break points on his quarterfinals contest against Baghdatis.

Dustin Brown’s dream week continues with the German qualifier reaching his first ATP career semifinal. After his brilliant performance against Gilles Simon, Dustin struggled to keep the same level against Ruben Bemelmans, but the Belgian was also far from his best. Brown can be an extremely dangerous player, especially when he faces higher ranked players, but he’s also known for his tremendous inconsistency.

This will be the first career meeting between these two players with Brown looking for an unprecedented ATP final presence.

No doubts that Brown is having an outstanding week, but Gasquet’s quality might be too much for the German. Dustin will be looking to rush to the net as often as possible, however Gasquet loves to have a target at the net to hit brilliant passing shots. Gasquet’s ability to open the court won’t allow Brown to hit the ball in a comfortable position, while the French’s counter punching skills will also be crucial against Dustin’s powerful groundstrokes. This seems to be a very good match-up for Gasquet and, despite Dustin’s great run, we believe that the French will get the job done. With this in mind, we suggest taking advantage of Gasquet’s tennis odds by adding to your tennis picks the French’s spread.
