Join us on our daily coverage of the ATP Monte Carlo event. Find out our top tennis picks for the Day 2 and why should you place these two valuable tennis picks.

Richard Gasquet (9) vs. Nicolas Almagro
After a two years absence, Richard Gasquet returns to the Monte Carlo Masters, with his best result achieved in 2005 when he reached the semifinals. Since early age, Richard was pointed as one of the most talented players of his generation; however, his passive game style prevented him from having a better career. It has been a decent season for Gasquet so far, winning the title in Montpellier and with all his three losses in 2016 occurring against top 30 opponents.

The former world no.9, Nicolas Almagro, is still trying to return to his best level. Almagro is an extremely aggressive baseline player and is able to produce a high level of tennis, like he did earlier this year in Buenos Aires, reaching the final after defeating two top 10 players – Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and David Ferrer. However, the Spaniard keeps struggling to perform at a consistent level and his last week’s defeat in Marrakech against Guillermo Garcia-Lopez is a good example of that, with Almagro losing the control after crushing his opponent on the first set by 6 – 1.

This will be the 7th career meeting between these two players, with each of them winning three of those. Despite the balance on the h2h, Gasquet won the previous three matches.

The conditions in Monte Carlo are quite slow and Almagro always struggled to perform at his best on this event. With Nicolas far from his best and against such a solid player like Gasquet, it’s hard to see the Spaniard taking the win on this contest. With this in mind, we believe Richard’s baseline consistency should be too much and for that reason, we suggest adding the French’s spread to your tennis picks.

Thomaz Bellucci vs Guillermo Garcia-Lopez
The last months haven’t been easy for Thomaz Bellucci, with the Brazilian losing his last five matches. Bellucci always struggled with health issues but lately things got worse, with Thomaz unable to keep a consistent level due to dizziness and even vision loss, according to his coach João Zwetsch. Bellucci is known for his fearful left-handed forehand and there are no doubts about his quality yet, his physical problems and mental fragility are always important aspects to keep in mind.

After a great year of 2015, where Guillermo Garcia-Lopez ended the season with two titles, the Spaniard hasn’t live up to the expectations so far in 2016, with a 7 – 9 record. Garcia-Lopez is a great competitor with a solid baseline game and always looking to control the rallies with his forehand. Guillermo will be looking for another successful run in Monte Carlo, after reaching the quarterfinals on his last appearance in 2014.

This will be the 6th career meeting between these two players, with Bellucci leading by 3 – 2 on the h2h.

Bellucci has weapons to bother his opponent, especially with the cross court forehand to attack Garcia-Lopez one handed backhand. However, the Spaniard is an extremely consistent player and his solid game might be too much for such an erratic player as Bellucci. As we mentioned, Thomaz is struggling with physical problems that have affected him throughout the entire season. With Bellucci far from his best and so many unanswered questions regarding his physical condition, we believe there is value on Garcia-Lopez tennis odds. Having said that, our suggestion for this match is to place a bet on the Spaniard to reach the next stage of the competition.
